question, have you guys seen those houses at Golden Oaks? Not to be debbie downer but I've been and for the asking price, (the one I visited was going for 2.5 mil) it's just like the rest of Disney. you are paying an obscene amount for location.

Take family and friends to WDW and stay at GF. I would also include the Dining plan and Park Hopper. They would have to bring their own spending money. I don't want them to rely on me for everything (for future).

I'm sure I sound totally lame, but I don't think my Disney vacation would look much different in terms of per person spending (just because I had lots of money doesn't mean I'd stop making value-conscious choices). But you can bet that I'd be taking practically everyone I know (or have ever known) with me, all expenses paid, instead of just close family! "Now seating weather lady, party of 500!" :)

That's about the same with us. I would take family and some close friends, and pay for them. The thing to remember is not everybody enjoys WDW.

Maybe, instead of looking at airfare and going "it is worth leaving at an ungodly early hour to save $400 total on flights" it would just be "first class on whatever flight is the most convenient".

Other than that, there is really not much of a difference on what we would spend. We never said "I really want to do that, but I can't afford it". It was always "We could afford that, but it is totally overpriced, so we are not going to." I don't think that mentality is going to change. Maybe a longer trip than usual, 10 - 12 days instead of a week, but nothing crazy.

One BIG change right now would be that I we would actually begin to plan our next WDW vacation (and vacation in general). I have been unemployed since the beginning of the year - gotta love corporate restructuring and the associated lay offs. While we are not wondering where our next meal is coming from, and I am confident that some of these job leads will pan out, we do have bills to pay, a kid in college, and 2 more coming up to bat in the coming years. So to start planning a vacation now is a bit irresponsible in our opinion.

On that note, if anybody is looking for a Senior Manager / Director with Project Management, Process Improvement, and People Leadership skills, shoot me a PM :)

Fun game. Unfortunately I live in one of those states that publishes your name, home town and jackpot won..
Most states even those that require a name and town...if you set up a TRUST to accept the money the TRUST name would be publicized and not yours! Mine would be MickeyMouseFamilyCharities, to go alone with sending deserving poor families that make under $30,000 to either DL or WDW all Expense paid except for spending cash

Hire an attorney, hire an accountant. Disconnect from social media. Buy a flight on Spirit to Orlando, no one will expect you to fly that cheap but with all the extra cash you can buy Spirit and all the trimmings and fly decently. Attempt to book a last minute room at POP or another value for a week. Work with the attorney and accountant remotely to organize accounts and to make sure no pesky unknown family show up knocking. After a week move to a moderate resort and start to relax and enjoy the parks. Once that week is over move to a Deluxe resort. Hopefully by that time I'm safe to come out of hiding. If not getting lost in the crowds at WDW is an easy way to lose someone tailing you. At this point I've used up all of my vacation from work. Fly home first class Uber to my poor home and continue my life. First day back to work let HR know that you are here to grace their presence but your work load is going to change. Turn on my heals and leave it at that. Cater lunch in for the rest of the week to appease coworkers. Start to formulate a business plan to create a new company to compete with the one I'm at. Steal employees and clients away. Get screwed over by crafty business partner. Broke again with a measly small amount of money. Repeat cycle.

Here are the things I would do (Disney-related only)

WDW: The biggest thing here is TIME. I'd be able to quit my job and spend more than a week at WDW. That would be the best of all. I would also:

stay at the Polynesian bungalows.
Stay at WL.
Stay in one of the huge suites at AK.
Rent Typhoon Lagoon for a private party!!!!!!!!!!!
Buy one of the Mickey balloons on Main Street, which I always want but can't bring myself to spend $15 on
Buy whatever Dooney and Bourke bag catches my eye

Go to Disneyland (for the first time) and stay in one of the themed suites at the hotel

Go to Tokyo Disneyland and Sea!

I'm fully aware it would give me almost no control. Even people with large stakes generally can't influence $150B companies. However, I like the stock enough that I'd take a huge position and it probably would give me a small voice to be a top 50 individual shareholder.
Now, if a good chunk of people on this forum bought $500 million in stock, we would have control of the company. That would make for some, um, interesting board meetings. :D "We need to make these changes, the parks as they are are horrible!" "No, those changes aren't needed, the parks are fine!" "You're nothing but a pixie duster!" "Shut up, doom and gloomer!"

I'd immediately place a call to reserve multiple suites and explain that I will be having all my friends and relatives stay for an extended visit. I will be paying for VIP treatments and multiple tours. Dining reservations will be arranged at our favorite restaurants and we will expect VIP service there as well. Heck....I'm sure a Millionaire visiting WDW would get anything they want and Disney would be falling over backwards to find ways to please you.

I've looked into it, my state doesn't allow this either. They want to publish one human name, oh, and the winner's pic. Zero privacy here, therefore I'll never win as I refuse to play. Still a fun game to dream though. :D

I thought that since Disney is full of wishes, dreams and fantasy that I would pose a situation that had all three elements...
Here's the story...
You just pulled into your driveway of your not immaculate, but comfortable rented home. You turn your ignition off and the 10 year old car jumps and putters and then coughs to a stop. You then walk in to your home, tired from a 12 hour day, only to do it all over again in another few short hours. You loosen your tie, grab a drink from the fridge and plop down into your recliner that has seen better days! You remember on your way home you stopped at the local gas station to gas up and decided to buy a few lottery tickets, since the jackpot is well over 750 million. You reach into your pocket and place them on the end table next to your chair...you fall into a deep sleep. You wake up just in time for the lottery numbers to be drawn on TV just before the local news! The numbers pop up one at a time, your eyes adjust to see the numbers clearly. You begin to get excited as you see you have 3 of the 6 numbers, then 4, then 5, and then the final 6th number is called. You realize you have matched all 6 numbers. YOU JUST WON THE LOTTERY! The total jackpot $1Billion and some 'change'...you opt to take a lump sum of $800Million. YOU ARE HAPPY!

If money were no object, what would your next Disney vacation look like!? Obviously, this is just for fun and to wish and dream about it! Let your imagination begin!

To be honest I think the government would take a lot more than 200 million in taxes. But I would move away. Away from the madness.

Assuming since this is a Disney Forum, we're keeping it Disney. Actually, if put in that position very little would go to Disney. But here goes.

I would do nothing the first year, other than invest. Looking for a greater rate of return - but let's go with the accepted number of 8-10%. So now I got $80mil a year annually without touching the principal (let's leave taxes out of this since it we're dealing in fantasy).

So with my 80 mil in my second year, I'd make a play on Discovery Island and see if Disney would sell it to me. Probably wouldn't, but if they did, I'd construct a 10mil mansion with 2 book-end towers I would shape into Mickey ears. Equip it with a dock for my personal watercraft and some high tech security (cameras, sensors, and the like). Hire some staff (at-home "cast members" and a "captain" who could ferry me back and forth to the MK, FW or any of the monorail resorts), and a chauffeur for my RR Ghost (for the times I'd want to ferry it across Bay Lake to cruise around property or over to EPCOT, DHS, or AK). Take that Golden Oaks.

Obviously that year I would renew my Annual Pass.

With my 80 mil for the third year, I'd re-create River Country in my backyard........................................................................

In that case I would give someone $1,000,000.00 to claim the prize for me!

The fantasy would be $200 million to pay the taxes for good on it!
