A mosquito was buzzing around my desk.

I smashed it between 2 pieces of paper. Both papers are covered with blood.

I can safely assume that it is either mine or the cat's.

NOW I remember why I live in Kansas--in another 8 weeks we'll have a hard freeze and they'll all be DEAD!!

I can't use my backyard most of the time because of the mosquito problem here. I seems like everytime I try to do yardwork or play with the family back there they swarm within 15 seconds. We use repellant but after a while we just go back inside to escape them.

Does anyone out there have a bug zapper/killer they recommend?

I live on the Gulf Coast, so our mosquito problem is HUGE! BTW: I think the LIKE citronella!!! Our city sends this truck around town with a "skeeter sprayer" on back spraying up and down every street. So here, it is either put up with mosquitos and take a chance of getting West Nile Virus, or breath and take a chance getting cancer from the pesticide they are spraying everywhere! For me, I'd rather take my chances with the mosquitos, but I have no choice. They spray everywhere whether I want them to or not.

We have pterydactlyl sized mosquitos in Tennessee. Plus I live beside a small river which makes it worse!! With the cool summer however it hasn't been that bad.

I live at the edges of the woods on a lakeshore so we have all sorts of wildlife...this year the mosquitos are huge. The kids got bit and had welts on their legs for days.

We used to have a bug zapper, but I'm not really sure what happened to it. We've tried the citronella candles and they do work to some extent. My FIL gave us a fogger awhile back. He always fogged the yard before a BBQ. I wonder it they still make them anymore?

LMAO  ...we live in the woods and had a fogger too, if fact, I still have it. I remember using it a few times for nighttime pool parties back in the late 70s. The air had to be perfectly still to use it.

I've had a bug zapper for a couple of decades and I get a sadistic thrill out of seeing the moths catch on fire ! :sohappy: I have a brand new one in a box that I bought some time in the 80s. Do they still sell those things?

Unfortunately Tramp, yes indeed those "bug zappers" are still sold at Wal-Mart and many other stores. Those devices do no good and actually kill some beneficial insects! But, I agree with you in that I always liked the "snap, crackle and pop" and the light show for which those devices are famous!
