You've been waiting under the menu for 10 mins, could you not have decided then?

A little off subject but we were at AoA in August. I hated their menu. It took me forever the first day to decide (and I didn't get in line until I knew what I wanted). The problem is there are about 5 stations and the menu keeps flipping. So u can't see the whole menu at once. So I had to stand at one station and wait for the menu to get around and then go to the next station. And of course I didn't realize the menu was changing when I first looked around. I did not like it at all.

This grinds my gears. Someone did that in Panda Express the other day. You're telling me you need to dry all 6 chickens?

I couldn't help it....

"Make sure you know what you want before we see the cast member, don't want to hold the queue up"

Only works during British Invasion. Otherwise most USians do not know what the word "queue" means.*

* - Based on the two or three instances where I commented aloud about the complete lack of "queueing" only to be asked " what is queueing" in response.

I would also like to say that if you do not know what you want, stand out of the way and look at the menu and figure it out, THEN get in line. Thank you

Exactly. If you walk up and there is no one in line....don't get in line until you know what u want! That happened to us in Typhoon Lagoon.

Not to mention most of the quick services now have laminated plastic menus you can hold in your hand and look at in line if you can't read the menus posted above...or if you haven't been to a qs location before and don't know the limited menus. lol
Exactly and if there is any kind of line at all a castmember will be there passing out the handheld menus.

It also bugs me that one person will stand in line for the whole family , which is fine, but if by some miracle they have managed to decide between the burger and the hotdog by they time they get to the front then they take 10 minutes to decide if they want the burger with or without cheese, and of course have no clue if the rest of the party wants cheese or not so we spend another ten minutes yelling at our party across the dining area to find this info out. It's not rocket science, these places don't even have that many menu options, just decide, and find out ahead of time exactly what your party wants and how they want it.

And they're usually doing that to save a table! Tables are for people who already have their food, ya jerks!

I was going to post this. Mom or Dad waits in line 15 minutes, gets up to the cashier then yells back at waiting kids asking what they want. Good grief.

I love when parents ask kids what they want and I have to wait for the kid to go on some stuttering diatribe on how they didn't get to ride Space Mountain and they want cookies and Coke for dinner.
This could be the funniest thing I read all week...you just perfectly described both my 4 & 2 year old!! NOTE TO SELF: no options, just chicken fingers and fries for them!

"Mikey, ya want cheese?! Mikey?!! Janet get Michael...Janet!! Get Michael!! Mikey, ya want cheese?

He doesn't want cheese."

"What do you mean he doesn't want cheese, he loves cheese, he always has cheese he even cries for cheese. Janet, why the hell does he not want cheese? Janet..........Janet...............Janet...............Mikey....................Janet..................Mikey"

Turns to cashier

"Yeah he wants cheese"

Family walks in, one or two go up to order, others get condiments, utensils, napkins etc...and finds a table to await Dad and little Bobby who order and deliver the meal to the table. How does that make them jerks?

I started a thread about this a while back and I often wondered what the 'table etiquette' was myself. Apparently it's ok to have party members reserve a table once you enter the building whilst others queue for food. I was told Disney stop people doing this when the restaurant is full and at that point you must first get your food? I have however been in Cosmic Rays and when we've got our food had nowhere to sit and eat it whilst others sat at tables waiting for their parties to get food who came in after us which I personally felt was unfair.

And there are different views. Does it make more sense for whole family to wait in line? Or perhaps rest of family waits outside until food is ready, then person ordering comes out with food and all go back in to look for a table, or some order some wait outside. Lots of different scenarios. Personally, I usually order while wife gets table, then I join her, but we never go during busy times anymore, and don't know what it is like trying to find a seat. And with only two of us, it is easier to find a spot.

Agreed it's not black and white on what is the fairest or most sensible option. We usually go off season too or eat at early or late times to avoid the madness also so it's not often a problem. If you want to see the original thread it's here
