I love your number 1 spot :).

But here's my reason why Terminator 2: Judgement Day is in the #10 spot.

10. Terminator 2: Judgement Day 1992 James Cameron

The 90's. A decade all about being bad and proving to people you were bad. This is truly when the badass era started. T-2 embraces this era. Filled with all the shooting and cursing everyone from this MTV era can take. However this film is so much more. __ There's the big macho Arnold who is a robot that can't die from a bullet hit and is a built killer. You would think he's going to be triumphant in the end. But James Cameron throws a curve ball by having the villian being considerably smaller. Robert Patrick looks like a regular law enforement officer but is an updated version of Arnold's robot model. Patrick's character is sent back from the future to eliminate the robot's main enemy in the future, John Conor. Arnold is sent back by John to protect his younger self. What fills the movie is a large cat and mouse type chase between the conors and Arnold and Patrick. For a sci-fi film every actor gives an outstanding performance. Linda Hamilton as John's mother is perfect. Even Edward Furlong who was 12 at the time is so great. James Cameron is a complete sci-fi genius. There's so many subtle things going on here. You have a robot he becomes more humane as he lives with humas but you have humans who are becoming less independent and depend on future technologies which will lead them to their extinction. Then you have the big buisness ideology that's in all Cameron films. Sci Fi + great acting + story + a great director= a spot in the top 10. Simple math.__

Saving Private Ryan
Maybe saving Private Ryan is the one decent thing we'd pull out of this whole god-awful mess

The Dark Knight
I wanted to see what you'd do. And you didn't disappoint. You let five people die. Then, you let Dent take your place. Even to a guy like me, that's cold...

The Godfather
Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.

Star Wars
You are part of the Rebel Alliance and a traitor! Take her away!

Raiders Of The Lost Ark
It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage

Psycho
I think I must have one of those faces you can't help believing.

Forrest Gump
Will you marry me, Forrest?

The Lion King
Simba, you have forgotten me. You have forgotten who you are and so forgotten me.

Pirates Of The Caribbean
Thank you, Commodore, for getting us ready to make sail! We would have had a hard time of it by ourselves!

Midnight Run
you guys are the worst bounty hunters EVER. You couldn't deliver a bottle of milk!

Yeah I had to cut Usual Suspects out of mine. It is tough. Maybe I should have done top 20 lol.

But here's the reason why Raiders Of The Lost Ark is #9:

9. Raiders of The Lost Ark 1981 Steven Spielberg

Hands down the greatest adventure film of all time. No Hollywood film today will match everything this film has. These are all REAL stunts. No CGI, everything is there. Archeologist Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) is hired by muesum curators to find the ark of the covenant before Nazis do as they try to take over the world. What follows is an action-packed adventure that will have any movie buff laugh, gasp, and cheer. Harrison Ford gives one of his greatest performances ever here. George Lucas and Spielberg are proven to create great films and here they create an amazing adventure. Inspired by the old action serials, this film pays homage to these old serials in a great way. This is what started probaly one of the most famous action franchises ever. And to this day remains popular among audiences.

That's a great list! I'm guessing Steven Spielberg is your favorite director? Lol

Here's my reason for the #8 spot:

8. The Lion King 1994 ____Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff
Every child who grew up in the 90's had to have seen The Lion King. Filled with great characters, songs, and a story that will touch anyone's heart. It's all about finding yourself and taking place in the world. It's all about the hardships of life and how you overcome your obstalces. Writing about an animated film like this won't do it any justice. It's an experience everyone should see together.__

Good ones! I considered Aiplane! also, as it was my very favorite at one time in my life. How can one really compare Godfather and Aiplane, Blazing Saddles and Schindler's List? All are wonderful, but they are so different, its almost like they aren't even the same art form.

I think a good idea for a thread like this would be to have the same question posed, but ask that no one repeat a movie that a previous poster has listed. It would tip us all off to some good movies to see, and reveal a little bit about each of us. For example, we all know that Star Wars and Raiders are great, and because that is SO universal, listing it doesn't tell us as much about that persons taste as say listing Spaceballs.

Favorite movies of all-time. I'll get a few repeats from others, but some new ones, too:

1. Groundhog Day - takes its premise to every logical, funny, interesting, and insightful place. The best movie ever produced.
2. Office Space - accurately (and hysterically) captures the IT world.
3. This Is Spinal Tap - few movies have better music, even fewer movies are funnier, and still fewer are so eminently quotable.
4. Airplane! - quite simply the funniest movie ever.

In no particular order, Lost In America, Mr. Mom, Just Friends, Raising Arizona, Fargo, Blazing Saddles.

Most Satisfying Conclusion: The Shawshank Redemption
Best Theme Song: That Thing You Do!
Best Comedy Team: The Marx Brothers
Greatest Caper Film: The Sting

That's a GREAT idea MaxsDad. Ok how about I post 5 movies that I like that weren't listed here yet?
Here they are:
Goodfellas 1990 Martin Scrosesse:
"As far back as I can remember I've always wanted to be a ganagster."

City of God 2002 Fernando Meirelles:
"You need more than guts to be a good gangster, you need ideas."

Good Will Hunting 1997 Gus Van Sant:
"Real loss is only possible when you love something more than you love yourself."

North by Northwest 1959 Alfred Hitchcock:
"Now you listen to me, I'm an advertising man, not a red herring. I've got a job, a secretary, a mother, two ex-wives and several bartenders that depend upon me, and I don't intend to disappoint them all by getting myself "slightly" killed."

Chinatown 1974 Roman Polanski:
"She's my sister AND my daughter!"__
