Your thoughts on Coronado Springs...

We've just been booked there for June. I've never stayed in it but have seen some nice pictures so I thought I'd ask the experts. Those who have stayed there what do you think? Is there anything I should know about it? Thanks in advanced. WDW Here I come.

I stayed there once when it first opened, and half the buildings weren't even finished yet. Anyways, I liked what I saw, and the rooms were nice. The pool area was neat, but depending on where your room was you had a mighty long walk to get there. The place is spread out too much, and you might have to walk a long ways to get to the main building (where the food court and bus stop is) or to the pool.
One complaint was the food court. It was expensive and had a really messed up set-up. You went in, picked up all your food at different counters (like in the other moderate hotel food courts), and then they gave you a recipt at each place. You then took all the seperate recipts up to the counter when you left to pay. If you have a big party, it could be a hassle. Again though, this was when the place first opened (I'm talking the first month or so), so that system may have changed.

I'll be there in 7 days. We usually go to one of the All-Stars, but we are having a convention, so I reserved our rooms there. I can tell you a whole lot more when i'm back in 2 weeks. Everything I have heard, it is real nice except you have to walk around alot.

I absolutely love this Resort. It is beautiful, especially at dawn or sunset, when the entire Resort takes on a shade of pink. The pool area looks so kewl with its Mayan Temple. However, as another said, the food court sucks. As opposed to the other moderates, here you are seated and someone takes your plates away and gets you drink--problem is, they charge you a 15% tip when you pay for that...I would rather seat myself, get my own drinks, and throw my own trash out to save the money...other than that, though...nice Resort. It is a lot of walking, but at least they have the bridge that goes across the middle of the lake to cut down walking times a bit...still a lot of walking though. There are several bus stops, but if you want food, it can be a ways.

Hey there!! I have to tell you I think Coronado is lovely!!!! As previously stated, the buildings are all this lovely pinky, coral type of color. The rooms are nice and pretty much on par with any of the other Moderates.
The POOL!!!! OH MY!!! The main pool area is seriously the most impressive draw to this resort for me. The 5 story Mayan pyramid is just awesome!!!! and with the water coursing down the steps and into the pool, WOW. Also directly in front of the pyramid the is a 21-22 person hot tub. I was sitting in there on one of my trips, arms floating in the bubbles thinking"I have to go back to NYC why????" It really is astounding. Disneyworld.com has a pretty nice picture of this pool on their website.
As previously mentioned, the food court really isnt the best I have been to and I am not crazy about the enforced 15% gratuity added onto your bill for "limited table service". It is nonsense I think. I have eaten at the Maya Grill for breakfast and for the cost that we paid there (about $12.00) we had spent that at the food court on the first day with an ala carte program! Thereafter we had breakfast every day at the Maya Grill.
To see some other pics of this resort go to www.wdwig.com. go to Accomodations, click that and look on your left hand side under the section for Moderates, you will find CS. Click on the pictures link and you will have a better idea about the resorts size!! It really is a LOT of walking. Anything else, please write back and Ill try to help! Belle

I stayed at the Coronado this past year and I thought it was a fantastic resort. The pool is one of the nicest pools I have ever seen. Overall, I had a great experience. The food is really good and the buildings are beautiful, (sorry I really suck at descriptions), and I would definately stay there again.

My wife and I have only stayed at the All-Stars thus far, but this past year we visited all of the resorts. Coronado Springs was our favorite of all of them. EVEN the deluxe resorts.

Its a beautiful, HUGE, resort. Nice themeing.

VERY BAD FOOD COURT. The extra charge for a tip (which constitutes someone bringing your drinks to you) is not worth it. The total disorganization of every food station and the rude workers (I had a pizza THROWN at me by a CM) makes it the WORST food court in all WDW.

The Maya Grill serves a great all you can eat breakfast buffet.

All in all the worst moderate resort out of the four choices in my opinion.

If you want a great moderate resort change your reservation to Port Orleans: Riverside. Everything there is top notch.

So, I think we all agree that it is a beautiful Resort (although large), and everything but the foodcourt is amazing. I am surprised the 15% tip has lasted so long...we were complaining about it way back in 1999...it's just a way for disney to get extra money for nothing, and it's just plain stupid. What annoys me more is that the workers certainly don't get the tips anyway--they get paid a flat rate. I would feel better giving them the money, but it just goes into the cash register...

We pretty much agree with everyone else's comments about this resort. Something that hasn't been mentioned is that we always found the buses to be much less crowded than at the other moderate resorts we had stayed at. I assume it was because many of the guests there were there because of a convention and so didn't go to the parks very much. That made it very nice at park closing time. I'm not saying the buses were empty but it wasn't standing room only either.

It is my understanding that an outside company runs the food court, not Disney. I agree with what everyone has been saying: It's a beautiful resort, great pool, awful food court. When we stayed there we ate off Disney property for all our meals.

You are right...

Disney hired outside people to run the food court. It isn't their own workers and management. Pretty Stupid idea if you ask me. I have a feeling their contract won't be renewed when time comes for it.

I would have to agree with everyone else here. The resort is very nice, but skip the food court. I took my mother the second week in January last year and liked it so much...we came back two weeks later for another trip. I don't think many guests consider the Coronado when booking a moderate, but I thought it was just as nice as the PO/Riverside, which was our favorite moderate. The rooms here were nice size and the music played on grounds was very soothing. I noticed when we went that the resort was very quiet. Even though it was quiet full, we didn't see many people aound. I suppose it was a big convention time, so our buses were pretty empty too. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate staying here again. Just loved the place! :sohappy:

I agree! The Coranado springs hotel is very nice and I love the whole tropical theme very cool! It has a very relaxing feel to it! The rooms and the resort is nicely themed, but some of it looks like it came out of a Mexico Cartoon ,very brightly colored, but it all fits together. THe food court is nicely set up I really like it but the foood mediocer. I definanatly liked it though!

Thanks once again for all your help I really appreciate it. My Dad was considering a value resort (bite your tongue) I am one for every aspect of a Disney vacation being perfect.

Well, I figure the Resort opened in 1998, so either the food court's contract is up this year (I hope) or they got a 10 year contract (like those found on all Epcot Future World attractions) which would suck...Disney must receive a lot of complaints about this food court--it's really the only thing that keeps this Resort from being superb...we could all use a little exercise from Disney (4000 calorie) food...it's just plagued with the Pepper Market...seems stupid to me; disney has great food courts in all the other moderates and values...even though French Quarter's is kind of small, so is the Resort...

I may be staying here in June. I promised my daughter a trip for her birthday. I would like to stay at AKL, but I told her that she could pick the resort.

Wow!! I was looking at pics of the pool more closely, and just wow. It looks so great I just wanna dive into the picture. I know this is getting redundant but I really appreciate all of your input, I didn't want my dad changing to reservation for a Value Resort. Its nice though that now I have stayed at all the Moderate Resorts titles. (still haven't stayed at French Quarter but you know what I mean)
