We are debating using 2 of our DDP credits to attend the Spirit of Aloha dinner show at the Polynesian Resort on our next trip.

If you have attended the show, please tell me your opinion.

Sorry but I haven't experienced it myself...though I've heard several good things about it. Enough that we added it to our list and booked a reservation for it.

Our family attended Spirit of Aloha last February and were disappointed with the food and the show.

The only thing my kids enjoyed on the menu was the Pineapple-coconut Bread.

We were more entertained at Donalds Breakfastasaurus (we loved this place..great interaction with the waitstaff) and that didn't cost us two dining credits on the mealplan. The play part of the luau was pretty corny. The second part of the show with dancers and fire twirling was OK. We enjoyed the fire twirler at Animal Kingdom's Festival of the Lion King much more.

Also when we booked our reservations decided to pay alittle more and requested Category 1 seating. We weren't seated very close to the stage.

I don't want to seem like a complainer. I can honestly say we enjoyed everything else about our trip. So much so that the moment we got home we started thinking about going on our next trip to Disney (which is 19 days away!!!) But this time we will steer clear of Spirit of Aloha.

My husband and I went to the Spirit of Aloha Luau in September and both enjoyed it.

The food was very good - not something that we would specifically go to a resturant for but very good none the less. The dessert was excellent (according to my husband) and they brought me a big plate of fresh fruit for dessert as I have to watch my sugar intake.

The beginning part of the show was very corny - to the point that we were asking each other why in the world did we bother wasting two credits for this - but when they got to the actual luau part of it, it made it all worth it. All of the dancers were great and the fire dancer was excellent. In the end we were both glad we chose that show.

It isn't something that I'll want to do every visit but I'm sure we'll go again a few disney trips down the road.

We loved it!
We just went again in December for the first time in 5 or 6 years and had a great time. The food and service were good, and the setting is awesome.
It really feels like you are on a Polynesian Island, from the boat ride over to the Poly, to the walk to the Luau garden, and the show!

The food was surpsirsingly enjoyable, and the service we had was great. The show is fun, with lots of singing and dancing and, of course, some special "surprise" performances!

If you've never done it before, I say GO FOR IT!!!

ENJOY!

:)

If you've never experienced it....then go for it.

It was our first time last week and I didn't enjoy it. The show was so-so. the food was so-so. Our chicken was extremely dry so we ended up eating the ribs instead.

The only part of the show I liked was the fire sticks.

YMMV...(Your Mileage May vary)

It's something that's always on our "Must Eventually Do" list. The others in our group can't particularly afford larger meals often, but my wife and I both can't wait to eventually experience it.

I would say the show is so-so. I was seated with my family in the way back. It was kind of hard for my younger sisters to view the show since the table arrangements are weird and you have to constantly turn your head (and if you are in the back there are usually lots of people also obstructing your view). I got frustrated after while because I had to keep on leaning back to view so I basically just listened to the last half of the show. If far back seating is all you can get when you try to make a reservation, I wouldn't recommend it if you have small children.

I do agree that the bread was really good.:slurp: The rest of the food (chicken, ribs, etc...) was decent. I would agree that the chicken was sort of dry. The ribs made up for it for me. For one thing, if you like the food ask for more. And our server brought us more bread when we asked. I would say the overall atmosphere was pleasant.

I think we will do the HDDR instead -- we have 3 kids & they may not enjoy it.
Thanks for all of the opinions!
