Packing and scrambling the night before we leave.
We live in Wisconsin, and usually head out to the Milwaukee Airport early morning (around 5 or 6).

I haven't had to go to the airport for anything besides WDW, so that is exciting!

Oh, and like doing what tiggerzgirl83 said. Ya gotta love Walmart :)

Once we've booked a trip and the emails start. We always have to name our trip so that the emails have a subject. This year's trip is called "WDW2006: Bring Socks". I send out informational emails every 10 days that are accompanied by a trivia question whereby you can win a Disney Dollar. This year emails were sent out starting with day 90. When we get to 4 weeks, they go out weekly. Wednesday, 8/2 will be my "1 week before Disney" email. Today I'll be confirming our dining reservations. Then they'll be visit the bank day, and get a hair cut day, and of course laundry day which is followed by packing day and then travel day. WOOOHOOOOO!!!

A few different things come to mind....

1)the night before packing the van up for the airport run the next morning.

2)the drive up to the airport (midway) and our traditional stop at Krispy Kreme Donuts. We don't have one anywhere near us...so it is a treat to go there!

I have the nervous/excitement thing when I am making the reservations, cause I know it's finally for real. Then the big feeling starts when I pay off the trip. About a week of so before we leave I finalize the bag packing.

Once the bags are packed, the butterflies in my stomach don't stop until we actually checkin to the hotel!.

My husband is worse than me!

For the wife and this is a year round event! We live in north Alabama so therefore the drive time is about 9hours. We normally take two Disney trips, one short weekend trip and a week long trip. We keep a folder on the desk in our office with all Disney stuff. But right before we leave i love to check and recheck the folder, which has park hoppers, plane tickets if we fly, and hotel res. numbers. Then to see the purple signs on property to point you in the right direction is just the greatest!

see ya'll in late October

My pre-trip never kicks in until I'm packing the night before. Usually, I'm waaaay to busy to be able to do much more than the basics to get ready, and even getting the necessities ready is a chore (a fun one, but usually scrambling at the grocery store at 2am).

With all of the traveling I do, I can pack for a week in under 20 minutes. That doesn't include, however, the packing my wife has to do for the kids, which apparently takes about 20 hours...

For me, the pre-trip is packing from midnight to 12:15am, then having a couple of nightcaps. I'm a nightowl that only sleeps 4 hours a night...throw on the excitement of going to WDW and I have little chance of sleep without a libation...

Day 0 (travel day) is when it kicks in...especially on the monorail at MCO...

 The Magic starts for us the day we book the trip, usually 6-8 months out. Then when you hit the 180-day milestone for dinner reservations - that when reality kicks in. We start heading to the local Disney store every 2-3 weeks stockpiling gift cards (which I take out and count every few days, along with drooling over our trip confirmation papers), buying new toothbrushes and toiletries for the suitcase (dosen't matter if there's already 3 tubes of toothpaste in the closet, you have to buy a new one that's just for this trip!!) Logging in on My Disney Vacation on the website just to look at the countdown. This forum has really gone a long way to getting us all revved up, too. I imagine the day that our Magical Express tags arrive will be just cause for a celebration. We'll make a ceremony of getting the suitcases out of the attic and laid out in the spare bedroom and placing the first articles of clothing inside. Getting close to the 100-day mark!!:sohappy:

Mine usually starts the second I hit the "Confirm reservations" Button on the Disney site about 3-4 months before our trip. Then from that point its the weeks of listening to Disney audio on Live365.com and watching the planning DVD once or twice before we leave to get myself hyped up. :D

But the point when I get really excited is when we hit I-4 and see all the signs that say Walt Disney World Resort - Next Right. :sohappy:

Pre Disney

I have to agree with everyone, when I first make the reservations it's like woopee!!! Then the dinner reservations (which we have changed a couple of times). Then we also changed from Riverside to Wilderness Lodge and that feeling was great for a couple of weeks. We are also a Live 365 Family who listen every night we are sitting in the yard for dinner. That always brings laughs and rememberences of all our favorite rides and attractions!!! Now we have 61 days to go and we have a little more to pay but with the free food plan, that is the best feeling!!! You can't top that. The Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (our first one because we usually go down during Christmas) is exciting to think about. But when we get the pack from Disney with all our reservations, etc. THAT IS WHEN WE ALL GET NUTS!!!!! Can't wait to go on September 30th! :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

Making the reservations is just the start for me [and like all of you I am sure] its the only time I feel good about charging that much money!

Packing and re-packing and planning for me. I usually start packing a month out [what a geek I am!] and watching my Disney taped specials and DVD's. The night before I usually stay up really late making sure I have everything together. Then once I get to the airport its the LONGEST 3 hours of my life! [Wait and Flight time included.] But as soon as I get to Orlando, I go into slap-happy "I'm at Walt Disney World!!!" mode.

[Sorry to go on and on but I am so excited for my trip!!! 26 Days today!]

Love saving up for a trip with our kids! I usually count and recount the box of change and cash every other week! (like it is going to magically muliply or something:lol: ) I love to make up charts that the kids can mark off for savings and I love looking for that deal that will save us enough money to get that next trip! (FREE DINING AGAIN! Whoo hoooo!)

Funny storry on the way down a couple of trips ago:
My oldest girl (then 6) asked us while driving down the age-old question "how much longer til we get to Disney dad?" and I replied if we go straight there it will be about 2 more hours. She replied how much longer will it be with all these curves and turns?
Kids are funny!

I always look forward to the weekend when the "suitcase packing fairy" visits our guest bedroom. That's when my wife and I spend an evening packing... listening to pumped up surround sound WDW music... sipping wine... and filled with anticipation.

We're counting down-- 51 days-- can't wait!

Wouldn't everyone agree that participating on these forums is, in a sense, just like one big pre-trip?

Over the past 10 years or so, I've accumulated 30 GBs in Disney attraction audio and video, and I know that there's lots more out there. It allows me to live vicariously, as WDW is a 20 car drive from my house, not to mention the fact that my youngest is 2 years old...probably the worst age to take a child - old enough to understand, young enough that pretty much everything can scare the bejeezus out of them.

My ultra-brave daughter took things in stride at 3 1/2 (including riding ToT...she's very tall for her age). Now at 7, her favourite rides are looping rollercoasters (she's 4' 4" tall), but she screamed with excitement the other day when she realized that all attractions are in her range now, even driving the cars alone on the Tomorrowland Indy.

I could not agree more. I am 38 days away from my trip and I seem to visit more and more as the time gets closer!
