Hi all. I'm going to WDW at the end of the month and I want to go on Tower of Terror, but I'm not sure I'm ready, so I started another "You know you're ______ when . . ." thread. Andddddddddddd, GO!

You know you are ready for ToT when you've ridden all the six flags drop rides and you know theres are cheap, and now you are ready for the disney version that has excellent theming, and is in the theme park capital of the world.

Next week will be my first ride on ToT :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

 I must have ridden that thing no fewer than 150 times on my CP (for everyday safety checks and show checks, as well as just for the halibut).

Mad, I'll hold your hand if we're ever down there at the same time. (Cuz...THAT makes it a lot easier.) :D :lookaroun

You would have to knock me out first! Hand holding aside, (and thanks for offering  ) my biggest phobia is of being in an elevator and having it drop uncontrollably. I've woken up in a cold sweat from nightmares of it happening. There is NO way that I will evr go on that ride...EVER!

Glad you feel better. :D (And I'll leave the offer intact, anyway. :animwink: )

That fear isn't too uncommon. One of the stranger challenges I faced there was getting some people into the "chicken exit" (a normal elevator that goes straight down to the Unload area).

Plenty of folks would come right up to the ride before asking to exit (after being assured they could outside the building). Then, when they realized that the way out of there was an elevator (after being conditioned to fear them through the whole pre-show), many of them would look a little skittish. Some kids would burst into tears. One woman absolutely refused to put a toe inside. I had to take her down by a backstage staircase, because she wasn't going NEAR the elevator.

(Personally, I was always creeped out by Alien Encounter. I was 20 the first time I went on, and it just bugged me. I never felt comfortable in that show...always worrying that it would be the perfect place for a REAL flesh-eating monster to slip in when nobody expected it.) :o

I always claimed I didn't feel good because of just eating or came up with some other lame excuse of why I couldn't ride it and now I just look back and laugh. I absolutely LOVE that ride now and do it as many times as possible when I'm there. I love the fact that the lapbar is now gone and you have nothing to hold onto, which makes it better because I like having my arms up anyways. I don't know if there's a way to know if you're ready or not, you just have to get in line and do it, plain and simple. Don't try getting around it or avoid it altogether, DO IT! :D You won't regret it because I know I sure as heck don't regret it now.

OK, I have a question. The first time I went to MGM was 94 when it opened. I never ridden it, because I was just so scared of what was in there. Now since Im not afraid of drop rides anymore, Im finally going to ride it this time.

Now, since this is my first time, do you guys think that I should wait in the standby line, so that I can see all there is to see, and notice the detail of this attraction, or get a fastpass and bypass it. I personaly felt I should do the standby first because I could see everything.

Heres my real question. When the standby sign says 40 or like 60 minutes. Is it really that long of a wait as to where you are waiting outside for a longtime before you even enter the building. Or is it not really that long. Because back in like 2002 and last year, the line wasnt really long at all. It said like 15 min. and this was the summer time.

Anyways which should I choose. Thanks in advance.

If you're still abit unsure about whether to ride it, I'd get a Fastpass and hop on board to get on the ride ASAP. This way you'd minimize the chance of changing your mind if you had to wait upwards of an hour in the standby line.

I did something similar years ago when I parachuted for the first time (needed a "pick-me-up", sorta). I decided to join an acquaintance when he told me one morning he was jumping.....and I trusted him since he was an advid parachuter. Mind you: I had a tremendous fear of heights, and actually still kinda do, but I did it with no regrets. Didn't jump solo, it was a tandum jump with an instructor strapped on my back controlling the fall.

Have fun on ToT!!!!

You know you're ready when you're considering it as far as I'm concerned.

You'll probably be sick to your stomach from nerves through waiting in line, the pre show, and the first 4 minutes of the ride.

Then, when the drops come, you'll be screaming (from having fun) and by the time you start thinking to yourself "When's the really bad part coming?", it'll be over.

Yea, Ive ridden several drop/freefall rides, and I really aint intimidated by any of them. I like being up real high and seeing all the people below me. And freefalling is exciting too. But I know ToT, Ill be REALLy really nervous. Any ride ive never been on, I always get scared on. But I know Ill love it.

Which side do you have to go to in order to see the Directory with the little Evil Elavator U R Doomed. This will be my dads first time on it as well, and I want him to be impressed by everything this ride offers.

Thanks.

the-reason: The hidden message is in the lobby, which everybody goes through. It's right in the middle, so if you get sent to the left library, you can just stop and look on your way across the room. If you go to the right, just amble over and take a peek while everybody else is crowding around the doors.

disneydummy: No problem. (As long as you weren't that woman who made me take her downstairs.) :D

Mad: No, I don't miss AE in the slightest. Bring on Stitch! :D

i would say definatly dont wait in the line.....get a fastpass...outside of ToT in the line isnt very exciting....everthing that is good u will be able to see in the fastpass line...i would highly recomend the fastpass. And for ur other question.....the standby times are pretty accurate....mayb sumtimes a little off but generaly they are wut they say.....the line may not look to long but there is another line in the building so it may take that long

I have seen that someone has a picture of the hidden message (I think this is the one) and it says: EVIL TOWER U R DOOMED. Look around the photo albums. It's there.

Well I have Always been afraid of the 6 flag drop rides, rollar coasters or any ride above the level of Tilt A Whirl. Even when I was young and I am celebrating my 66th. today. HOWEVER, I did go on Mission Space and TOT. I bought the picture after the tot ride and I am shown smiling and pointing to the opening where one looks briefly, I add, over Fla. I originally thought one went through the drops standing up. When I saw we sat, I guess I felt better. Anyhow, try it once. I saw the ride shown on the travel channel and it didn't Look too awful. The ride is brief. The anticipation is another matter. So I advise a fastpass to go through more quickly. :zipit:
