As a Yankees fan, but more importantly, a fan of the game of baseball, I am really excited for Goose.
Not to take away from closers today, but some of the numbers now just pale in comparison....3-run lead in the bottom of the ninth, give up 2 runs, but get the save???
Goose was usually in for several innings, and with his nasty stuff....his accomplishments are all the more impressive, IMO.

Congrats to him! He deserves it. I just got a little choked up reading a different article. He said he wished his mother could have been around to see him inducted (she passed away in 2006).

The good news for Rice though, is that he jumped a huge percentage this year. Next year may be his last year of eligibility, but having just missed by less than three percent this year means that he has a very good shot at getting in on his last go round.
