THANK YOU!! A forgotten (on purpose or not) element of the Yankees is that their ownership actually has pride in the team and wants to field a winner for the city, the players, the fans, and obviously themselves. There is a lot of envy and sour grapes on this board and throughout the U.S. because fans of other teams have owners that don't give a darn about them or the team they own, as long as they can pad their bank accounts.
Just keep this in mind, the Yanks pay a luxury tax to all of the cheap-as-heck teams out there and in some cases... ahem... Rays, Royals, Marlins... ahem... the luxury tax pays for the entire on-field payroll, meaning that the owners of these teams didn't sink ANY of their own money into their players. If you want to hate, hate the cheap, penny-pinching owners in mlb, and not the ones who actually try (NY Yanks, NY Mets, St. Louis, Boston, LAD, LAA, Chisox, ChiCubs, etc..). Otherwise, it's misdirected anger and jealousy.
The antidote a lot of people mention is a salary cap. How about a salary floor? That way the cheap little brothers will have no excuses and will have to have accountability to their fans and their franchise. And if they truly don't have the capital to compete, sell the team.
