Has there ever been a victory parade in WDW for any sports team?
Jimmy, I was @ MK in 04 and there were a few Sox players (I think Poppy/Schill and Pedro) in the parade along with Red Sox banners on Main St. I promptly left and :hurl:. Lol

If its so easy, how come they haven't won since 2000? 2001 is when they starting spending the huge amounts, and this is their first championship since then.

The Mets have spent roughly $150m a year the last 3 years and have not even made the playoffs.

Oh, and by the way, the Yankees spend one of the the least amounts of income to payroll. They are so far beyond the income of any other team that if they spent at the same rate the other teams do, you'd be talking about a $450-500m payroll, not one around $210.

Don't you mean an owner who put's the money back into the team instead of his pockets like everyone else in baseball?

If this were the case, then the Yankees would be World Series Champions every year (which we all know has happened since 2000). Yes the Phillies have a good team, but the Yankees beat them. Accept it and move on.

Exactly.

And, there is no cap in baseball. The Yankees fans support the team with enough cash to support the payroll. What is the team supposed to do ? Say "we could afford that player, but you know what, we are going to give all the other teams a break and not take him"

Argue for a cap if you want, but up until such a time as one is created, then it's all a legal part of the game.

It's called putting money back into the team. The fans are willing to pay a lot to see the game, and in exchange the Yanks give the fans what they want. Wins.

Baby steps. For a team that hasn't had a winning season since 1992, you can't expect them to go 'all the way' next season.

sorry I was making a joke. the owner of the pirates doesn't want to win or he wouldn't have the philosphy he has. every team has slumps, but it's to the point now that most people I know don't expect them to win.

and while the owner makes excuses such as having a small market other teams seem to do ok.

THANK YOU!! A forgotten (on purpose or not) element of the Yankees is that their ownership actually has pride in the team and wants to field a winner for the city, the players, the fans, and obviously themselves. There is a lot of envy and sour grapes on this board and throughout the U.S. because fans of other teams have owners that don't give a darn about them or the team they own, as long as they can pad their bank accounts.

Just keep this in mind, the Yanks pay a luxury tax to all of the cheap-as-heck teams out there and in some cases... ahem... Rays, Royals, Marlins... ahem... the luxury tax pays for the entire on-field payroll, meaning that the owners of these teams didn't sink ANY of their own money into their players. If you want to hate, hate the cheap, penny-pinching owners in mlb, and not the ones who actually try (NY Yanks, NY Mets, St. Louis, Boston, LAD, LAA, Chisox, ChiCubs, etc..). Otherwise, it's misdirected anger and jealousy.

The antidote a lot of people mention is a salary cap. How about a salary floor? That way the cheap little brothers will have no excuses and will have to have accountability to their fans and their franchise. And if they truly don't have the capital to compete, sell the team.

Well put:sohappy:In addition, Yankees fans support their team in times of good and in times of bad. There are so many instances of teams who when they aren't playing well, have little attendance to their games. It takes a better team with a loyal following (Yankees, Boston, etc.) to pump up their attendance when they come to town.
