I am working on my ADR's for my upcoming trip/wedding in November. Since Le Cellier's popularity makes it difficult to get reservations, would you make reservations for the Yachtsman for a good steak if Le Cellier is unavailable? I've never been to the Yachtsman so feedback is much appreciated.

Desired ADR's
Nov. 24th - Whispering Canyon
Nov. 25th - California Grill
Nov. 26th - Boma
Nov. 27th - 'Ohana (wedding dinner)
Nov. 28th - Le Cellier (hopefully)
Nov. 29th - No ADR
Nov. 30th - Citricos (my bday)
Dec. 1st - 50's Prime Time (lunch)
Dec. 2nd - Flying Fish or Jiko

Meega, nala kwishta!
Personally, it's the other way around for us. I'd make a reservation at Yachtsman first. If I couldn't get it, I might think of going to Le Cellier as a substitute.

But that's just my tastes, others vary... :animwink:

Yep, Yachtsman is better than Le Cellier. :king:

Since it's a Signature Restaurant it is 2 credits on the plan and there is a dress code (Disney Business Casual), but well worth it.

We love the Yachtsman better than Le Cellier. The few times we have eaten at Le Cellier, the food has been way off. We had high hopes because everyone raves about Le Cellier. After eating at the Yachtsman, it is a must on every trip to Disney. :) Can be pricey, but the 2 TS from the dining plan are well worth it. We also like Narccossee's for a good lobster and steak dinner.

I do not think they enforce the dress code. Friends of ours joined us there the night before our wedding and they both wore jeans and tee shirts. I had on capris and a nice top and DH wore shorts and a polo. I guess it depends on the person at the front.

They do as I have seen people turned away. Jeans and a t shirt ARE part of Disney's business casual (as well as the clothes you and your spouse wore) as long as they are clean and contain no sayings.

Business Casual Dress Code

Attire considered appropriate by this dress code is:
• Dress shorts
• Dress pants
• Jean pants - clean, no rips
• Collared shirts
• Blouses
• Sweaters
• T-shirts - clean and no slogans

Attire not permitted by this dress code is:

• Hats
• Swimsuits
• Swimsuit cover-up's
• Tank tops
• Torn clothing
• Flip-flops - though leather dress thong style sandals are acceptable for women

Nice to know the specifics of Disney dress code. Thanks!!

Let me jump on the Yachtsman bandwagon! Le Cellier is good, but Yachtsman is far and away superior.

Depending on availability you may want to consider Narcoossee's as an alternative to Citrico's (both are great)

I would also suggest doing either Jiko or Boma not both. Also consider Artist Point at WL.

When you make ressies, be sure to specify that you are on your honeymoon or that it's your birthday!

You have a very nice list there, enjoy...and CONGRATULATIONS! :sohappy:]

PS....did you think to consider really splurging and going to Victoria and Albert's?

There are so many great restaurants its hard to choose! If only I could convince my fiance to stay a few more days to fit all of them in....

I think this time we are going with Boma since we ate at Jiko last September (it was great)and have never tried Boma. Citricos is one of my favorites, but I've heard great things about Narcoossee's as well. What to do...what to do...:veryconfu

It definitely seems like the Yachtsman is a better choice over Le Cellier. We wanted eat in Epcot, but its such an easy/nice walk from the Yachtsman and will work perfectly.

Is Victoria and Albert's really worth it? My finace and I are big foodies and will consider it if its an absolute must try.

We had V & A a few years ago. While it was absolutly the most expensive meal I've ever eaten, it was one of the best meals I've ever had as well.

They even had Kobe Beef that night and we spent the extra $25 a plate for the Kobe over the other choices. :slurp:

It's not something we would do every year. We've set a limit of once every 5 years on that one because of the cost. But you should do it once in your lifetime. It's an experiance that you will never forget.

The cost is significant...but if you are foodies, it will be the best 2+ hours you have ever spent, wine pairings and it truly is close to heaven. The food would be enough, but the extremely intimate setting, the amazing wait staff... you will not be disappointed.

Your other choices are all great as well. Don't think you will go wrong with any of your options. Flying Fish is great as well.

We have not eaten at bluezoo, but friends who have gave it high marks.

In case you haven't seen them, this site and allearsnet give good access to menu's to help you with your decisions. Just read through Victoria and Albert's and see if your mouth doesn't water!

I vote for Yachtsman, too! I have never, never been impressed by Le Cellier, and I've had to eat there several times to please friends who heard about it and insisted on getting their steaks there.

Yachtsman is a better restaurant, period. :slurp:

Another vote for Yachtsman, we like Le Cellier too and always try to do both - but YS is far better. The fresh roast garlic and bread while you order is lovely!

Yachtsman is by far the better restaurant and we love Le Cellier. It is worth the 2 DDP credits. We did X-mas dinner last year and had the Kobe Beef which we hope is still on the menu when we go back this year.

I have to agree with everyone else here. Yachtsman shouldn't be your substitute, it should be your first choice if you are looking for a steakhouse. There is a reason that it is a signature restaurant and Le Cellier is not. If it is within your budget, I definitely recommend going there over Le Cellier.

Cancel all your ADR's and go to V&A every night. Period, end of story. :)

Yes, it is worth the expense. Much much better "bang for the buck" than other dinners in the same price range at some top end steak houses.

If you like wine, then the pairing are a must. This was what I had when I ate there.

Amuse Bouche - Warm celery cream with basil olive oil topped with smoked salmon and Iranian Caviar Paired with Codorniu Cava Brut, Penedes NV

Blue Lump Crab and Fresh Gulf Shrimp with Petite French Green Lentils - Paired with Trimbach Gewurztraminer, Alsace 2002

Poulet Rouge with Fresh Porcinis and a Truffled Egg paired with Feudi di San Nicola Negro Amaro, Puglia 2003

Atlantic Turbot with Winterpoint Oyster, Salsify, and Spinach Veloute paired with Domaine Maillard Pere et Fils Chorey-Les-Beaune Chardonnay, Burgundy 2004

Marcho Farms Veal with Roasted Beet and Veal Cheek "Lasagna" paired with Charles Joguet "Cuvee Terroir" Cabernet Franc, Chinon 2003

Comte Sainte Antoine, Pierre Robert and English Stilton Cheesecake paired with Ramos Pinto Porto Tawny, Villa Nova de Gaia

Caramelized Banana Gateau
