>>Shoppers desperate for a taste of Galaxy’s Edge and determined to buy a plush Porg, remote controlled droid or the latest Mandalorian swag have been waiting up to 7 hours for the chance to drop some serious galactic credits in the Star Wars Trading Post at Downtown Disney.

Shoppers have encountered 4-hour virtual waits to get into the Star Wars Trading Post after standing in 3-hour real-world lines to get into Downtown Disney on busy days, according to MiceChat.

The long lines for Downtown Disney and the Star Wars Trading Post reflect the pent-up demand that Disneyland and other California theme parks expect when the tourist destinations are allowed to reopen after more than a year of coronavirus closures.

The strong demand for the Star Wars Trading Post raises questions about how Disneyland will manage crowds during the upcoming A Touch of Disney food festival and the eventual reopening of the parks at reduced capacity.<<

Oh, geez.

Maybe Mr. Potrock is actually the brilliant one after all for charging them $75 for a $25 food credit!

For the record, my 'virtual' wait the other day was just under 2 1/2 hours to visit the store. :)

Though of course I got the text to come back when I was at the farthest point away in DCA!

My longest *actual* wait in line was for the WandaVision photo op at about 20-ish minutes. Everywhere else - dining or shopping - was at most 5-ish minutes 'standby' to get in.

We went to DTD two weeks ago on a Tuesday thinking it will be 'less busy' in the middle of a work day and all. My son especially wanted to see it. Got there and it was still a 3 hour virtual wait lol. Decided not to bother, just went to BVS (one last time while it was 'free'), bought a few more covid masks and then some Earl of Sandwich and called it a day. It's not going anywhere.

But yeah, if you are doing a 3-4 hour wait to enter a gift shop, I can't imagine what the demand will be like the day they open the parks. It's going to be very fun watching from the cheap seats however. ;)

I'm a pretty die hard Star Wars fan and I would never, ever wait even an hour...probably not more than 30 minutes to shop there or anywhere else. To each their own, 7.5 hours of my time could be used doing far more productive things than waiting to get into DTD and the Star Wars shop.

What a joke. All for sequel trilogy products? No thanks.
Nope. It's all Star Wars merch from any era - from Jedi robes to Grogu plushies. It's not limited like Galaxy's Edge (which actually had Baby Yoda merch encroaching on them last year anyway.)

And again folks, this is a virtual line. You scan the code at the entrance and sign up and they text you when you can go in. So I did that on entering Downtown Disney and then went about the rest of my shopping and eating until I got a text saying I could return - and then I was inside in about two minutes. So yeah, the virtual wait is 'hours'. The actual time to get in is minutes.

I see. Glad it's all eras. Do they have legos and things like that too, blu rays? I still wouldnt wait to get these things but hopefully they're offered at the store.

I've been wondering about this because demand will be as high as you suggest, but all of a sudden the most zealous fans will face the fact that they now have to pay for every single visit.

Admittedly, I was most interested in the plushies, the cosplay gear (lots for adults - yay! #nerd), and peeking over at the light saber case (that area has a separate line within the store to keep it from crowding - it has the high end character hilts and sabers for sale).

But there was a selection of everything from pins to droids to figurine sets and toy ships to Loungefly bags and spirit jerseys. It seemed a solid all-around selection of merch for whatever era of Star Wars you're into.

Agreed, but also don't think it will last forever, mainly just in the first few weeks or maybe months. In other words all the hardcore fans will all go ASAP, but since no one will have an AP anymore (or for awhile) then it will probably subside after a few months. And obviously with the capacity level so low, it won't be hard to hit those levels in the beginning. I can see the parks sold out every day for a few weeks BASED on the lower capacity levels. So they will definitely go, but obviously not like before unless of course they can afford to shell out $100+ a visit assuming the original entrance prices stay the same.

I'm in zero rush to go personally, so I'm going to try maybe two months after it reopens. I suspect by then it will be a lot easier to go or to even go anytime barring some weekends, but I been wrong before. ;)

Good to hear. How about action figures?
