No desire to go back and pay full price for things for half the experience. Feel bad saying that as I know they can't help it at all but realistically thats not a guests problem.

I dont think I'll be making any attempt at a visit for at least another 12-18 months...man this is going to be tough!

I don’t think they were seriously worried about people lapsing their premiums...

I think they saw how much they’d be saving in claims and gave a tiny slice of it back to the customers to shut them up/keep them ahead of the PR curve.

A tactic.

I would agree with your "PR" response but that's not what Vader said.

I am not sure yet. But I will not pay full price for a "reduced" Disney vacation. No way I will spring for a Magic Kingdom view room at Contemporary and then not be able to see the fireworks from my balcony any night. We'll see what happens.

This exactly! I cancelled our August trip a few weeks ago at the Contemporary, on the Atrium Level Magic Kingdom view, too. Between the room and airfare it was $13,000. Now, add in food and tix! No way do I want to spend that much and not enjoy the whole WDW experience on our trip, while a pandemic is going on. I'm in NJ and we still are sheltered in place until June 6 and it may go longer. I am praying that we can go next summer.🙏🙏 If not, we will wait.

People are mostly following the rules...

My point is that anyone saying “yeah...I’d wear a mask in wdw...” has honestly no clue what they’re saying.

Since it’s never been tried...not once...by anyone.
Ahh ok got it.
You're right but no one has any experience with any of this. maybe I have more faith in humanity but I really do think folks will follow the rules about the mask and SD. Well at least they will try. Will we see folks who sit on a bench and pull down their mask?? Absolutely but by in large I think covid 19 has people doing what they should.
I can't imagine anyone simply not caring if their kids get sick or they get I'll.

Just my feeling

Lol, I cancelled my August trip also. Booked a week at the Jersey shore so I hope they are open.

I thought you guys opened up parks and golf courses last weekend?

What I find funny is how people assume you won't be able to last wearing a mask in wdw in July and August. If you are at the world when it's Africa hot I doubt a cloth mask is not going to be what kicks you over the edge.

The coding thing is scary to me. The way I understand it, you are ranked and numbered according to your health history. I don't know what their criteria are for this and what they do if your "status" changes? I guess you are scanned and if you don't have the "correct" number, or code, then you can't go into wherever, parks included.
This smacks of something right out of science fiction, and definitely NOT something I will every do. A park is not worth that for me.

Phil tipped his hand the other day...

NJ gets more than $3 billion in annual sales tax revenue from the Jersey shore. Christie admitted that in 2013 post sandy.

Don’t be surprised if AC and the shore don’t miraculously open on 5/21...they have a huge budget whole and they can’t really afford not to.

See I think anything that creates more heat stress could be a huge deal. All masks aren’t created equal as well. Some require more “fortitude”...and Americans are SOFF in general.

Not to get political, but Murphy doesn’t care. He’s basing his entire reopening timeline on his feelings. Not data or science.

Booked for the Wednesday before Thanksgiving - December 4. Barring a ton of rides closed we are still planning on being there. Though I might drive instead of fly.

Living in Florida, I'm wearing a mask in public and I can tell you that in the grocery store, it's not bad but just the walk to or from the car is enough to make the sweat start dripping under the (cloth) mask.

The problem is exaperated by the fact that you're not supposed to do anything about it. You're not supposed to wipe it away with a tissue or anything else that requires messing with things under the mask so it just builds up.

Is is bearable? I guess but there are enough aspects of a WDW vacation these days that have become things to be endured. I don't think this is one people are going to embrace.

If you've ever worn a Halloween mask in humid weather for any length of time, you'll have an idea of the problem. you breath hot moist air which just acts like a sauna on the rest of the covered face.

No way can I imagine doing this for an entire day down here.

In climate controlled environments, it's not bad at all but outside, getting people to stick with keeping them on is going to be a huge challenge until we hit those two weeks of winter-like weather we manage to get some years.

Something like this will probably be easier in Disneyland.

In Florida, it's the humidity... it's always the humidity :/

I am, personally, not interested in visiting Walt Disney World under those kinds of conditions.

First, WDW is a vacation, a luxury, something my family and I do for enjoyment. It is not one of life's necessities. I am willing to don a mask and socially distance to go to the store to buy essentials. But I am really not interested in a vacation where half of the things we like to do are restricted or unavailable and we have to be uncomfortable all day long wearing masks.

Second, and more importantly, I am not willing to risk my health or that of my family. If the COVID-19 pandemic is still such a concern that these measures are necessary, then I don't see any reason to take the risk on something that is a purely luxury, non-essential thing. As I have said in other threads, I am in the camp that firmly believes that we will develop effective therapeutic drugs and a vaccine. If we have to wait an extra year or two to go back before those things happen, so be it. It's not ideal, but it's also not worth the health risk to do it sooner.

People can't follow rules like this in a grocery store or restaurant take out. getting them to follow in wdw of all places is funny. The number of people I see pulling their mask down to talk to other customers or on their phones is mind boggling.
While I would not relish wearing a mask, outside all day, in FL, in the summer, I can say the masks worn in the video would be a little more bearable (if I could find them) compared to the better protecting ones out there that really intensify the heat factor.

It’s hard to understand people with a mask on.
I have to pull my mask down when talking to elderly people. Sometime you just can’t yell loud enough. They are so dependent on lip reading.

That's me, and I'm 50. I slightly damaged my hearing doing hobby woodworking years ago. I didn't realize how much I rely on lipreading until all of this mess. I'll have my mask with me in July, but it will be on and off, on and off...
