Hm, i had a somewhat similar idea to this, though it didn't involve splitting the two pre-existing parks into two (which would IMO be foolish and an obvious attempt at getting more park admission money). At this stage, people expect Epcot to have both Future World and World Showcase.
No, my idea would have to involve some sort of time travel to ever happen since it goes back to before they'd finalized the plan. It's a two tiered plan. I'd have redone the concepts of Epcot from scratch and not ever included World Showcase in the plan. Only Future World, and have that concept a much larger scale than it presently is. More attractions that would be more in-tune with what Walt had in mind. But just more content overall. For as large as Future World is, there's just not a huge amount of things that i like to do there (especially now with several major changes and closings since the 90's). Since this would involve not having World Showcase, i'd just drop the Future World subtitle and name the entire place Epcot (that name makes little sense when you include World Showcase anyways, it only works for Future World). Would call for a new night time show with a technology theme.
Before you tar and feather me, know that i absolutely LOVE World Showcase and would not want WDW without it. No, the second part of my plan would be to build a dedicated park for World Showcase. Having a second park would dedicate more space for more countries and attractions. Westcot's concepts would have worked nicely, to have regions instead of just individual countries (though maybe not). Reflections of Earth would still fit with that theme. Now this you will probably tar and feather me for, but i could potentially do without Hollywood Studios if World Showcase saw its full potential in a dedicated park.:lookaroun Not that there's not room for a 5th gate anyways though, so whatever (who would complain having both?).
But yeah, won't work out now as they'll never be able to split the two parks up effectively without appearing blatantly greedy. And if they just split the two halves up, i would say absolutely no. That is, unless they truly did redesign both aspects in the way i had in mind (which will never happen). It would have been a very cool concept to have had two parks from the beginning though, with more space dedicated to each half of Epcot.
