My vote is for Grumpy, hands down. I am of the opinion that as long as the job you do for me gets done and gets done well I could care less if you act like you like me or not.

I chose happy. I think that is what sets Disney workers apart from others is how friendly and helpful they are. As long as they are trying their best and are cheerful I am satisfied.

I had to pick happy, I mean if I am paying for service it should be with a smile. Incompetence and slowness are really in the eye of the beholder, nothing ever really moves at the speed you want it to. So I would rather wait a little while longer to get my "service" with a smile, then to recieve it slung at me speedily with a frown.

It depends:
I do not want someone incompetent navigating my boat to MGM and have us crash into a wall. :brick: (<< I had to. lol)
But I guess I would rather have a happy CM on any other occasion.

As a manager in the hospitality industry I want my TMs to be happy, I can teach them the skills they need one way or another, but I will have a hard time teaching them to be happy.

This is probably one of the hardest questions I've seen posted here on the forums. I'm not sure how to answer.

Part of me expects someone who is happy and pleasant to talk to, but another part of me is fed up with people who are incompetent and unable to do their jobs.

I guess happy wins out, but barely. Ask me again in five more years!

Interesting question, TURKEY. Obviously, I expect both happy and competent at WDW, and I am usually not disappointed. I chose Grumpy but competent because incompetence drives me up a wall, and I hate wasting time - especially given the relatively short amount of time I'm on vacation.

Yeah... that was a hard one.

I have to agree about the personality part.

I, too, am a manager in the 'service' field. I can teach someone how to do something well. I can't teach personality or motive. I can try, but in most cases, I'm wasting my time.

I try to find the best fit for the individual. Then, ultimately, if all else fails, I'll let them go if they don't catch on.

You can't teach a person "work ethic". THAT is a hard thing to instill in someone. That comes with upbringing.

('happy' for me... I'll work on the rest)

Easy choice for me, I can overlook the slowness and incompetence. As for anyone who is grumpy with a customer/guest that's not done anything to them, there's no excuse for that, and they need to pound sand, and go find another job away from the public.

My choice was for happy. I could care less if you are slow but if you are happy and nice it makes it all worth while. Also this is what sets Disney CMs apart from everyone else, they are always nice and very helpful and they dont give you attitude.

They one thing I have never experienced is a rude or unpleasent CM.

there was that rather unpleasent one at the lost and found...but I don't count that because she was away from the parks in that little building at the transportation center...

Where's the "NIETHER" button??? :veryconfu

There's no room for people like that in my organization and there certainly shouldn't be any at Disney either!

Perhaps it's time to recommend a career change for both groups!

I would rather have plesant and a little slow than grouchy and speedy any day...when I am on vacation I really don't want to deal with the attitude I get everyday in the real world...

While both competence and friendliness are important, I prefer someone who knows their job versus someone who just smilies but can't do the job.

Happy by far - attitude is everything. I'm much more patient with a person who doesn't have an attitude then some one who does have one. :lookaroun

I would rather have someone who is capable of doing the job, but I hate it when someone cops an attitude when you ask them a question (regardles if it's stupid or not.)
