Long story short we are surprising my in-laws (who haven't been on a vacation in 15 years) with a trip to Disney as their Christmas gift, the difficult part is that I am making ADR's for everyone with out their input. DH has been helpful for every park but Magic Kingdom...nothing is standing out to him there... So I'm turning to you guys.... We will have one extra dining plan credit that we could use for a Chef Mickeys Breakfast on our departure day if we choose Crystal Palace or Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner OR we could use two credits and have dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table. What are your suggestions? Oh and we'll be having lunch at BOG- DH and I did on our last one day trip and that masters cupcake has become a legend in our house!

Ready....Set...GO!

Even with lunch already, I'd still pick BOG as the table service MK meal. Of the other options, I'd go Liberty Tree for sure. You'll get your character meal fix in at Chef Mickey's and the Crystal Palace dinner experience is just okay.

We are going in December and MK was also the only park we struggled with for choosing a place to eat.. We are actually going to be in MK two days (one full day, and we always return to MK after a 1/2 day at AK).. One day we are doing dinner at BOG.. the other day we are having lunch at BOG.. At first, I wasn't sure if we wanted to eat their twice, but I hear its totally different at lunch then dinner.. The other nights dinner, we struggled with! I'm personally not a fan of buffets so Crystal Palace was a no.. We didn't have enough credits for CRT.. but honestly, not having little ones and haven eaten at CRT before, it wasn't something we cared to do again this trip.. We finally decided to eat at Liberty Tree Tavern after reading better reviews (at least compared to other MK dining) but then we realized we can't make ADR's because its closed for renovation and even though its SUPPOSED to be opening in Nov, they don't have ADR's.. so we are currently sitting on an ADR for Tony's but hoping we can score one at Liberty Tree (when/if they open up).

Just an FYI- there aren't many ADR's left for the week we are going in December so it may come down to what you can score!

I personally think CRT and other signatures are better OOP if you're on the standard dining plan. i.e. if you look a how it breaks down (price per credit), it's just not the best use of your credits/$. Out of the options you've noted, I go with Chef Mickey's for breakfast and while I'm not a huge fan of either for dinner (prefer CP breakfast and LTT lunch), I'd choose LTT dinner.

If you are willing to use 2 credits, I would also recommend California Grill over all of these options. The views are stunning, particularly if you can time your seating to be able to enjoy the fireworks. The service and the food are also head and shoulders above the other listed restaurants as well in my opinion. In December, I would recommend taking a jacket to enjoy the fireworks as it can be quite windy and considerably cooler up there than it is in the parks.

Only issue with Cal grill the last few times I went was it has turned into daycare.... I don't see it anywhere near that level at other sig places.... It really is shame.... NO longer a must do for me.

CRT is a waste of two credits to me. Go with two separate meals or a bona fide signature offering excellent food. In addition to Cali Grill, we love Narcoossee's and Artist Point. Go somewhere nice with the folks who haven't been on vacation in 15 years.

I'd splurge and go with Castle dining. It will leave a fantastic last impression and lasting impression on your in laws especially since its going to be their first time in WDW. You also get souvenir photo to take home. Something to wow them on on their last evening at MK.
Liberty Tree is a great meal, quiet atmosphere and Crystal palace is O.K. but can be noisy and full of kids, not the best for a quiet last adults only meal.
If you really want to make that last meal memorable ... and treat them like royalty .... go CRT. ;););)

LIBERTY TREE TAVERN ALL THE WAY! CRT is nice to say you've done it but the food at Liberty Tree Tavern is OUTSTANDING! They have heavy dishes if you're starving and lighter dishes if you're not and their desserts are to die for! Plus, they'll just be finished with their rehab so it'll be nice and new. Honestly, I'm bummed it will be closed for our upcoming trip. It's always a must do for us.

Liberty Tree Tavern!!!!! Wonderful food that my whole family loved! I have 3 children 16, 10, and 5 and they are always happy with it! We started going their back when it was a character experience. So... we thought that our kids would stop liking it but no... the last few times the food was so good that they didn't notice the lack of characters. At lunch time you can get all kinds of food and the Ooey Gooey dessert or at dinner you can pay a little bit more and get a family style Thanksgiving dinner (love the mac and cheese)! Yummy food all day long. We do BOG at lunch for the experience and I have watched youtube to see if CRT would be worth it (not so much for the $... but I could be wrong).

Bottom line is whether we have free dinning or not we always make a reservation for Liberty Tree! (that says a lot since my husband only likes paying for QS if we do not get free dinning- but I always seem to squeeze a few in;))

Side note... I am so looking forward to Skippers Cantina - the new Adventure Land Veranda

Eating in the castle is a very memorable experience, even if it is overpriced. If they are big into Disney, I would go with CRT. If not, go for quality at one of the better restaurants at the GF or Contemporary.

We did dinners at both California Grill and CRT last week and I'd go with CG, as CRT was a bit of a letdown and nowhere near the quality of CG's food or service. And it was far from a daycare setting while we were there, maybe a handful of little ones (including our 7-year-old), but everyone was pretty well-behaved.
