Would you go to WDW & DL in same month?

Given that this is a message board for and by Disney fans, I may already know the answer to this question, but here goes:

I am taking my family of four to WDW for an Easter/spring break trip. We are all big Disney fans - my wife and I are former cast members and we are also former Florida residents so my teen and almost teen have been treated to multiple trips to WDW over the past decade.

I have to go to L.A. on business at the end of the month, and the opportunity has arisen to take the whole family with me. I have been to Disneyland once. None of the rest have ever been.

With all there is to do in L.A., and having just been on a four day immersion at Walt Disney World, WOULD YOU get a day ticket to Disneyland or save it for another trip when you haven't just come from a trip to the big mouse house?

(BTW - my vote is no, but I'm very willing to reconsider . . . ) Don't feel too bad for the kids if we don't go to Disneyland, as they will have a full slate of fun activities including shopping in Beverly Hills, tours of the Warner Brothers Studios, the NBC Studios and Hollywood, a game at Dodger Stadium (vs. Giants), beach time including the Santa Monica pier, with a drive up to Malibu, and a trip to the Getty Museum (alot of which will be while dear ole dad is working! :hammer: )

Now, listen closely: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH DISNEY!!!

Would I visit both places in the same month? Of course I would! (Only one caveat: is this an opportunity that's going to come up again in the very near future? If not, go for it! If the answer is yes, than maybe you should spread out your vacations a bit more so that the family will have the opportunity to appreciate it more.)

This past summer I went to WDW and then 3 weeks later I went on the DCL for a week. I was sure that I would be sick of Disney but I didn't get tired of it at all!! I actually couldn't wait to start planning my next trip. I'd say go for it!! -Stephanie

I don't know that I have a desire to go to DL at all, let alone in the same month.

While there are certainly some attractions that I would like to experience in DL, I would be afraid that it would not be as magical for me and that it would affect my future WDW experiences. I think it's the fact that DL is basically in the middle of a metropolitan area. I know that sounds weird, but that's my intial reaction.

I'd definitely go. Just to have your kids experience the park that Walt actually built and oversaw for 11 years. It is very different from wdw, but I don't think that will take away from it. I think it would be good just to experience both and be able to compare and contrast them. If anything, it might make them appreciate wdw more for being as large and spread out as it is compared to the city surrounding Disneyland.

If money where no object...

If I could afford it, I would go to every Disney park within one month.
WDW and DL are not exactly the same, there are so many things to see at DL that you can't see at WDW.
DO IT, DO IT, DOOOOO IT. :D

Well we just got back from sunny Southern California, and I have to report we DID NOT take in the Disneyland park. :( We just didn't have enough time!

On our California trip, the kids thoroughly enjoyed the Santa Monica pier and scenery up the Pacific Coast Highway to Malibu, with a Thursday night supper at a fine Beverly Hills restaurant. Early Friday morning, they toured the Warner Brothers studio where they saw Matt Damon filming a movie and after lunch got to attend a taping of the Tonight Show where they met Xzibit of MTV's "Pimp My Ride," followed by supper at House of Blues on the Sunset Trip where JC Chasez was playing a Friday night concert. Saturday was a trip to Hollywood and the "real" Chinese Theater, lunch at the Universal CityWalk (much larger than the Orlando version), with an afternoon on and around Rodeo Drive and a Saturday night Giants/Dodgers game at Dodger Stadium.

They would not have given up any one of those events for a day at Disneyland.

Wow. What a fun trip!

Actually, we got married in DL, then flew to WDW for the honeymoon! It was cheaper than doing the whole thing at WDW.

<---LOOK, we got a little souvenir too!

6 different parks, six different emotions. DisneyLand and Magic Kindom have similarities. But each one is Unique in it own way. Example: IASW the original ride is in DLC a smaller copy is in MK, PotC same. The Tree House in DLC was redone as Tarzan, MK is Swiss Family Robinson. An so on and so on. Now i want to do it also...:brick: :hammer: :zipit: :lookaroun

Those plans sound awesome too! Though I would still consider Disneyland if you are really huge can't-get-enough Disney fans. I (like a few others who posted!) went to WDW for a week, then had to fly to CA for work a week later and spent a weekend at Disneyland. It was really cool to compare and see "Walt's original" - and it made my WDW trip extra exciting because I knew I wouldn't have to "come down" from the Disney-ness!
