Would Walt have built the wand?

No way, there would be no wand to remove because he wouldn't have built it. Thanks for another wand thread! I was getting bored

This makes 502+ threads about the stupid wand. Let's just keep 'em coming. Maybe every member should be expected to start their own wand thread! :hammer:

are all of these completely random speculation wand threads just a way of forcing the mods to give in and make one stickied wand thread?

I understand the huge, life-changing effects of them removing the wand, and I log on to this site with baited breath each day to see the progress - but between WWWD, is this to combat harry potter, and the six thousand other threads on here already...

someone needs to come out with some new news (or at least a good, vaguely believable rumor. Is redisnieydw on vacation or something? Some other disney insider who trolls this board for fun needs to fill in for him, if so!)

Actually, a more interesting topic would have been simply to ask if Walt's Epcot would relaly work?

Do you think the original concept in part or in whole could have really worked? In my case, the idea that cars are forced underground allowing for the best access by public transportation users! Ah, utopia! I hate traffic, and just don't understand why anyone would drive into the city unless the need to lugg cargo exists. Why not just take a train, metro, bus, people mover, etc. Especially the people mover, how nice.

The problem with the concept is that the entire city would be owned by a private interest or single corporate interest. This would be a problem. Neighborhood associations already prove that things can go extremely wrong if not handled with extreme care. Some are great, some are controlling and dictation based. You shal do as they tell you.

I've been thinking about this for some time...

Walt would have never build Epcot the way it was today, and I think that he'd be very unhappy if he were still alive of the way that the Disney company is being run. Think about it, Disney Channel is some cheesy-kid-sitcom-crap-spinoff-over-advertised-network, Epcot (which was called EPCOT Center for a reason to begin with, because EPCOT was to be a city, a completely different idea) is now turning into the new thrill-ride central, and everything else in Disney World is being turned into a Pixar attraction.

The wand would never have been built if Walt were in charge. Think about it, we probably wouldn't even have Spaceship Earth if Walt were in charge. Epcot would be completely different. It would be the way it was intended to be.

I'm not saying that I hate Epcot, because it is my favorite Disney park. All I'm saying is that it isn't the way that Walt intended it to be.

People ... we all know the wand is coming down, and we have at least three threads with pictures of the demolition. Could you please ask your questions in those threads? Thanks a bunch because all of these dead wand threads keep congesting the forum making it harder to find the newer, less-talked-about news and rumors.

About what Walt would do, it is too hard to speculate. With him already gone to rest for so many years, too much has changed to know what he would have done. In order to do that, you'd have to trace back all of the decisions made to right after he passed away, and I bet most of you (including me) are too lazy or don't care enough to do it.

This is what I thought after seeing a recent proliferation of the threads by veteran posters who previously weren't so fond of numerous wand threads themselves. I really hope this is the case, because there was not one legitimate rumor/news thread started today (this could also be to no new rumors/news today, I couldn't find any on my search of other sites, but then again, my only source is websites, whereas others here have "connections").

Perhaps it just a rite of passage.

Seriously, look for yourself: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/search.php?searchid=1351265

And I'll keep killing them! :fork:

Don't know what that search was, but nothing shows up!

But how could ANYONE ever find them with this plethora of wandism?

In a way, they did do it..and called it Celebration. When Celebration opened, it was a very nice development of moderately priced homes. Now it is a conglomerate of poorly constructed (many homes have settling/cracking/mold issues) overly priced homes on postage stamped sized lots (with a zero property line variance..your home could extend right up to the property line) . The city itself is full of rules and regulations, such as monitoring your grass height, water usage, what color your house is, what front door is on your house, your car can't be parked in front of your home...no front driveways) etc. If you want to make any change at all, you must submit it to a town architectural comittee for approval before you can do so. There is also something encouraging the use of electric vehicles (that look like huge golf carts, you see them everywhere in celebration) though I was told by the realtor that I went to shop for homes with that my Prius was acceptable (though I can't remember what it was aceptable for). I also noticed a lack of minorities (though that could be a function of price more than anything else) but I felt as if the realtors who sold Celebration property were told to screen for undesireables.

I think that once Celebration became priced far above the average person, DVC popped up. If cebelration were more accessible tothe average person I wonder if DVC would exist. I also think that Celebration was sold to another company with the stipulations that the rules and regulations that WDC founded the town on stay intact. I have read that Walt was a control freak at times but....come on! I kept looking for hidden security cameras all over town...
