I don't believe medical science has anyway to prevent it at this point, so Disney certainly don't.

Disney won't consider shutting down its parks unless there is a real pandemic in the Orlando area. And by that, I mean affecting thousands of people in the Orlando area alone. Expect local area schools to close first before Disney does.

I don't think Orlando would ever encounter the swine flu, its mostly clean everytime I visit. PLUS I know that disney parks always make sure everything is clean and perfect!

It would have to be a real epidemic for them to close the parks. Been there, done that during the polio epidemic during the 1950s - beaches, movie theaters, playgrounds, etc were closed - anyplace where large groups gathered.

There will always be people who will make the decision not to travel to an area where a case or two of any infectious disease has been found, and this may make them stay away.

Epidemics spread in "dirty" areas because they also tend to be crowded (more person - person transmission) with fewer sanitary facilities. But unless WDW is constantly walking behind every guest and sanitizing everything he touches, their cleanliness will not make a difference. Individual frequent hand-washing, and not touching railings, etc will be effective in lessening your chances of getting sick.
I would also wash my face frequently, to remove any germs that have been coughed/sneezed on me.

At the moment, there have been no deaths outside mexico anyway, but i think if it moves up the scale (Its only 4 at the moment) if it moves to 7 i think they have to for health reasons, they would have no choice.

:lookaroun
Fingers crossed. x

An epidemic or pandemic would affect Disney. Sadly, so will the hype surrounding this story.

Think for a moment about all of the people you've encountered at Disney...I bet many had far worse ailments than this hybrid flu. Yet, we're all o.k.

Right now we suffer from the media pandemic...:brick:

I would have to agree before posting this thread I had people put so many things in my head it was terrible. My friends said " Don't go to work tomorrow or go to school." ect. Know I have noticed that there is no real reason to panic really it was just somthing I was worried about but not anymore. I was not thinking before posting so I apologize for this lol. So I pretty much think we should close this thread. The media is blowing basiclly everything out of perportion and i cant really stand it :hurl:.

According to the CM I spoke with at 2:00 this afternoon, Disney has only closed twice in it's history, and neither time was for a flu virus...
3 1/2 weeks and counting :)

I'm hoping it does affect Disney. I'll be there in 8 days and people staying away from the parks means less wait times for me! :p

Seriously...I think this thing is being made into much more than it really is. Common cleanliness should be observed. When I'm at WDW, I do ramp it up just a tad due to all the snot dripping kids with sticky ice cream fingers. My wife and I carry antibacterial gel and wipes...but we do that regardless of swine flu or not.
