Does this include medical absences? Technically, we're not supposed to take our children out of school for "vacations" (my children are in private schools, so the rules are somewhat different) but it's done all the time. The request just has to be cleared before hand, and under certain circumstances, the student has to attend Saturday School to make up the days. (the private schools still have to abide by state regulations concerning number of days in the school year)

Sorry I didn't explain very well, its for special occasion days, weddings, holidays etc. It doesn't include medical absence, this figure is less than 80% unless covered by the appropriare notification from a medical practioner. It also doesn't include theatre or media work.

We have previously booked a vacation 18 months prior with Virgin, which included flights, carhire and a Disney Hotel sounds early but gives you plenty of time to save especially if you are coming a long way.

We too have provisional bookings at the Poly for Christmas 2004 I don't think we are weird, but know we are sad it isn't this Christmas:cry:

Thanks! I was afraid the police would be pounding on my door if I lived there! ;) (knock on wood, my kids have been pretty healthy this year!)

Oh, I forgot what this thread was originally about, LOL!
Heather, go ahead and start that planning. I don't think people read your post correctly. She said planning her trip, guys. Not booking it. Two seperate things. And, you are a teen, is that correct? So your parents will most likely do the booking and the paying, is that correct? Then you will most certainly want to have an idea of where you want to stay, how long, and when you want to go so you will be prepared to talk your parents into what you want when the time comes for them to book it. Do your planning and research and info compiling and be all set to suggest things. Your parents will be impressed at your vast WDW knowledge! Try to aim for value season or a package deal and save them some bucks! They'll love you for it!:animwink:

My Son went to a Private Grammar School, and now goes to a Private High School. In K-8 They were allowed 7 "Un-Excused" absences(Trip Etc.. Non Medical) and up to 20 Excused(Death, Medical, Etc..)

At the High School he is Allowed 5 Un-Excused and 10 Excused.... And he has 2 weeks to make up the work once he is back(Not Bad, Huh?)

Why all the time. My last trip was planed in a week and a half. This was over the summer. roundtrip, hotel on property, 3 days in the park. $350 a person. Yeah. it was so random. It started as a joke cause some friends and I went to Six Flags in NJ, and I kept saying this is no Disney. We should go to Disney World. Next thing you know we were there. It was so not a joke.

A lot of schools have unexcused and excused absences, usually less than seven or seven unexcused. And a few more excused. Most have a total, like 20 unexcused and excused. And usually the excused have to meet school specific rules
