Disneyland's dragon would be a huge plus for the Florida show. I would imagine they would have to dig a large pit into the stage for it, I wonder how feasible that would be.
Didn't they used to have a comedian do a show while people were coming in?
I think I remember the plaid suite guyYES! I wish I could upload my old 8mm footage, but they used to have several options of pre-show entertainment- One was an improv comedian who, the one time I saw him, got the audience to do the first "Flash Picture" wave ever took part in. He wore an old timey plaid suit and sat at the front just telling jokes and warming everyone one.
He got everyone to do greetings for each section (Pochaontas screamed "WINGUPO", Scar had to claw their hands in the hair and go "Hakuna Matata" evilly).
Another time I went there were TWO comedians who also did magic tricks and chair stacking balancing act,
I agree with everyone about the Pocahontas scene making the show "dated". I like the canoe's appearance, but this whole sequence is supposed to represent Mickey's imagination creating a "new hero" ONCE AGAIN, which is why the villians get all upset.
They need to do something more to keep guests occupied with a pre-fantasmic show. Maybe have retractable screens that show Disney classic shorts or movie clips. Then before the show starts they disappear. The CM's that try getting guests attention as others file in before the show begins cant do it. And I totally agree... a change in the show away from Pocahontas would be most welcomed.
Thing is, the entire show of Fantasmic is retractable screens showing Disney movie clips...
I am definitely in the minority but i found Fantasmic to be the worst of the night time shows. I don't know what it is I'm missing that everyone else gets about it.
I don't know about the worst but we too were underwhelmed. We used the dinner and a show seating which kind of surprised me that we were all the way to the right of the theater and not front-and-center. I kind of feel like the projections and show would have been best viewed from the middle of the theater. It was still a good show but I think perhaps the build up of all that I had read here and elsewhere was what ultimately made it anti climactic. I would agree that the projections on the water fans need some work. I found it hard to actually see what was being shown and it messed up the continuity of the show.
The most fun was the pre-show games and stuff that the cast members did with the audience. I kind of feel like "been there, done that, don't need to again" where Phantasmic is concerned.
Apparently since FastPass+ they have moved the sections around and the dining package tickets are now centre, FP on one side of the seating and standby on the other side.
