Would a thrill ride 5th gate spell the end to Universal?

Is Universal too little too late with HP? I would have imagined they should have gotten it open while the new books were still being published for greatest effect. I really love the HP stuff, abnd think it will really increase IoA attendance, but I'm not sure they got the timing right on this one.

The timing is still appropriate because Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows still need to be released on film. That's three movies that will help continue the marketability of the park as a whole. When you throw in the potential for more Harry Potter further down the road (since Rowling hasn't completely ruled it out yet), Universal is hitting it at about the right time.

It doesn't matter if you're a hair late to the party... because the party doesn't start until you get there.

I just look at the make up of the rides @ WDW and the vast majority of the big waits are associated with the thrill rides. I say vast majority because you still have the new TSM and PP and to some extent PotC, which are not thrill rides. But you look at RRC, ToT, SM, EE, SM, BTM...they are thrill rides and apparently there are a big demand for more. Granted there are many families that don't have everybody that can ride them, but from my perspective, being the only one in my family that goes on these rides, they are the first things that I go to fast pass and I ride them solo. As long as the Disney theme is kept in tact, whatever that may be, I think it would be a huge addition. Now obviously in this economic climate, there is no chance it will happen...but with US nabbing HP, which was a huge get, some more investment in the current parks is essential. TSM was an interesting addition, but more E-Tickets will have to be in the pipeline.

Before WDW thinks about openning a "5th gate", they need to do some good refurbishments in all three parks. EPCOT still needs major changes in Future World and World showcase. Animal Kingdom has lots of room for expansion. DHS can definitely use a revamping. Magic Kingdom should really reimagine the whole Tomorrowland.

WDW's aim is a whole family experience, not jus catering to Thrill Riders.

All "three parks"? There are four. And you are right, every single one of them needs major additions and changes, even MK. But Tomorrowland's last refurbishment is only about 15 years ago. Surely it needs more and better attractions, but a complete new reimagining would be a waste of money. There definitely are areas which need such much more desperately (Especially WS in EPCOT. No major or even minor additions sind 1987! Only a minor reimaging of El Rio del Tiempo)

Being that the 7th book is being broken into 2 movies... Their will be three new movie releases still to come which will peek popularity for HP again over the next few years. And I might be biased because I love the books so much, but I think the stories have major staying power.

Also, who knows... in a few years jk might want to write some more( HOPE!)
