Worth getting an annual pass?

My wife and I are going to WDW in October for 7 days.

We've recently talked about going on a quick 3 day trip to WDW at the end of February or beginning of April.

Is it worth getting an Annual Pass for the 10 days combined?

the 10 days is the break even point, usually. You might get some discount on the Oct trip for your room with an AP, but those are never guaranteed. But from experience you might find that you sneak another trip in after Oct but before your pass renews. I found that the "year" we had ours, actually got 15 months for the price of 12, it lead to more trips. I used my pass 26 or 27 park days and I am living in western NY!

Brilliant...and Canadian
In the Parks
No
3-day Hopper ticket = $342
7-day Hopper ticket = $392
Total = $734

AP = $649

Plus all the benefits of room-only discounts, dining/shopping discounts, special events, etc...

I've never understood the "ten day break-even" logic. They no longer offer no-expire tickets, so two 3-day hoppers cost more than one AP.

A whole of depends. If you buy a 3 day MYW base and a 7 day MYW base, the total would be 608.12. That doesn't include hopping. A annual pass is currently 648.59. So the AP would cost you $48 more than a straight park ticket. But a 3 day & 7 day MYW w/hopping costs you 733.73. So if you want hopping both trips, then the AP costs less. But if you want WP&M with or without hopping on one of those, then its cheaper to buy the tickets than a PAP at 776.39.

Do the math based on what you would want for park admission. Only you know if you want hopping or not. Don't factor in discounts to your math, unless you know you want TiW, then add that in. You may end up wanting to do one set of tickets, and one person with an AP for discounts.

if you plan to stay on property, i'd say yes because you'll be able to take advantage of room discounts. there is also the tables in wonderland program if you like to eat on property. it's only available to florida residents or ap holders.

Same here...we got an AP last year into this year, because we knew that we were going 4.5 days in September and then another 4.5 days in October, plus we'd be there for Spring Training for a few days (which we've extended to be five days). We've already made an impromptu trip in January and have an additional trip planned for September (right before they expire). That makes a grand total of approximately 24 days. Plus we went ahead and got TiW because we knew we'd make up the difference in the couple of meals we had in October with our DS and his family.

Don't count room discounts into the equation unless your travel dates are flexible. Tables in Wonderland is another thing people use to justify the AP buy.. but that too much be weighed against YOUR style.. how often you eat at the covered locations and how big your party is.

Look at the tickets you would buy.. and compare with the two AP levels.

Hi there, Assuming you will make both trips, the AP is absolutely the way to go. The no expiration option is still available onsite, but at a 10 day ticket, it actually works out to more than the one Annual Pass, if you are going to use the 10 days within 365 days of the activation of the Annual Pass. I do have to warn you though, I have the AP and because of that, it is easy to just book another trip during the course of the year. I have averaged between 4 and 6 trips every year since I first got my AP in 2002!! Have a wonderful time!!! Marie

Another thing with the AP is being able to go to a park on you arrival and departure day, and not feel your "wasting a day" just for a hour or two. I remember arriving one night and my teenagers wanted to go ride SM because we had EMH, so off they went. Another useful feature for the AP is that if you lose your AP go to guest services and get another, lose your other ticket (or leave it at home) it's a problem.

I know you are right about the room discounts but I have saved on my room cost twice now with that passholder discount. I think TIW is kind of a rip....I doubt if I buy that again.

How so on the TiW? I am just curious as I buy this every year and most of my meals are sitdowns so I can use the discount. I was just wondering why you feel it doesnt work for you? Thanks! Marie

I was wondering the same thing. It's a known discount off of almost every TS and some CS locations. Unlike the dining plan, you can easily figure out a breakeven point ($500 I believe for AP right now) I understand completely if you don't eat at TS locations enough to justify the cost, but I'm not sure what else beyond that.
