The worst time I ever went down to Disney was July 3-July 17. It was sooo hot and there was just too many people down there it was crazy. How about anyone else?

Not like there really is BAD time to go down to Disney, your in DISNEY!!

am I going to enjoy it despite the heat and crowds???
I'm really looking forward to it...
Even with the crowds its still fun, plus you can even meet cool people while waiting in lines. I always make new friends while waiting in lines and usually go out to Pleasure Island with them to go dancing.

Since my husband and I are teachers,we've always been kind of locked into the school year calendar, and that has meant a LOT of trips during April break. It's crowded, true, but I really only remember ONE day that even I, the family Disney nut, didn't have a good time - the Easter Sunday we were nuts enough to go to the MK. It was complete and total gridlock! The following year, we took our kids to NASA instead, and saved the MK for a day later in the week.:animwink:

Either the week before or after Easter. The lines were unbelieveably long.

We always go around this time and so don't know about the line length at any other time. However, since the introduction of Fast Pass the line length and queuing times have been greatly reduced.

I've been to Disney numerous times over the years at different periods and I can say without question that the worst times to go are any time that a large contingent of U.S. kids are out of school. I personally would not go back during summer or spring break. The heat and the crowds combine to make me grumpy! But you also have to consider that I don't like being in a crowd at all. I avoid them whenever possible.

That said, I think everyone should go to WDW sometime during the Christmas festivities (Week of Thanksgiving thru New Years) at least once. I have been between Thanksgiving and Christmas and it was worth it to see the decorations. The crowds were bad, but it was managable, and the heat was not there to fray your nerves like in the summer. My honeymoon was the week before Thanksgiving in 2000. We stayed in WL and had a great time, although while we were there, the parks steadily went from not crowded to really crowded as the week progressed. We did get to watch them put up the Christmas decorations in the WL lobby. It was very neat to see them assemble that huge tree. We stayed right there in the huge lobby area and the noise from all the machinery and moving things woke us up. I'm glad we got up in the middle of the night to see Disney magic take place. :) Those guests not staying in the lobby area had quite a surprise waiting for them in the morning. Santa Mickey had come!!

Every year (except last year, moved date due to Sept. 11) we always leave Thanksgiving night, after stuffing our faces. :D It's always been real nice, especially the weather. I would recommend a light jacket or sweater for night time. But the days are very nice. Crowds aren't light, but not unbearable (they've never bothered me anyway).

I think the worst DAY to go is Christmas. My wife and I went with my Mom and Dad 2 years ago and it was horrible. The decorations were nice and all but it was terribly over-crowded. Disney should never let that many people in at one time. I also hate being in Florida during Christmas..just doesn't feel like Christmas time to me if it's not cold out and preferably snowing-I know I'm a weird Northerner. The worst TIME OF YEAR to go would have to be July. It's extremely hot and over-crowded. My wife and I honeymooned there in 1998. One of the worst parts was that the parks are filled with huge groups of Brazilian teen groups. They were very rude and poorly supervised. You could not mistake them because each group had it's own solid colored t-shirts to identify each other. They were constantly cutting in line and shouting Brazilian chants in unison. At times it felt like we were at a World Cup Soccer match! At one point, while we were waiting in line at Splash Mountain, the loud chanting of "Brazil (clap clap clap)" became so overbearing, a group of Americans started trying to drown them out by screaming "U-S-A"-I was actually worried that a fight was going to break out! I had read warnings about these tour groups in Disney guides but didn't think it would be that bad! Anyway, we still had a great time overall (like we always do at WDW).

Amen, brother! I agree with you - I went to the MK dead on C-Day 1996 and I was restricted to just two rides: "It's a small world" and Snow White's Scary Adventures! It's so wall-to-wall, elbow-to-elbow, and I believe that I saw many turismos, mostly the Brazilian tour groups. (Everyone: patooie!) At least he shows and parades made us pass away the time.

As for July, I agree with you - I'd say never again! turismos and out-of-towners plus the heat and frequent rainstorms a Disney day do not make! I went to WDW on that month in 1995 and saw huge crowds for virtually everything, long lines on many attractions, and turismos! I was on Epcot on the Fourth and the thunderstorm delayed my first viewing of Illuminations. Don't do July or even June!!! :brick:

When I was younger my family and I went to WDW/Universal alot, but always were forced to go in the summer due to school schedules. We didn't know any different at the time, but it was always packed and boiling hot. Until I had gone to WDW in the Spring/early summer, I didn't realize what I was missing. I remember it being so hot I didn't care what ride I was getting on as long as it was indoors. A good portion of enjoying WDW is the atmosphere of the parks - and when you're so hot and uncomfortable, it really takes alot of out it. On top of it, the lines were always super long - so it didn't help out our morale at all.

I also went in August and while it was less busy (but still hot), it was ruined by Tropical Storm Faye which circled over Orlando for 5 out of 8 days and completely ruined our trip. I have found May to be the best time of year.. crowd/weather wise.

Ditto

December 26, to January 2. - Christmas week and New years eve. Negative: the parks are packed to capacity, and on new years often close due to max attendance capacity. Positive: extended hours and relatively comfortable weather.

We have been to the World during all of the major times to visit (and off season too) by far the post Christmas week and New Years eve, day are absolutely crazy with people We love that time of the year to visit but we now stay during the last week of Nov. or the first weeks of December. The parks are beautiful with decorations and crowds are moderate. :sohappy: Happy New Year everyone. :ROFLOL:
