Worst Refurbishments

The living seas being repainted entirely blue. I don't mind nemo, but the entirely blue room is a downgrade from the original setting.
Also jiyi is a bad refurb of the og imagination and imagination with figment is an even worse refurb of jiyi.

I miss the old Soarin’. I know the screen needed an update, but I miss the smell of orange groves and picking my feet up because I felt like they were getting too close to the river and the smell of trees. I miss the golf ball flying at me. The new one is okay, but it doesn’t give me the “feels” like the old one.
Still that fruity smell at Flight of Passage

Sometimes the little things can add so much.

And conversely, sometimes the little things can take so much away. The Mansion thrives by mystery.

I agree with the being mysterious.

Also, I have had so many ppl on social media say "what do we tell the children" about the bride auction. Never once did my kids question this scene. I think it is over their heads.

Mansion, bride with an ax? And parents are not concerned?

Imagination 1.0 to 2.0 is the clear winner, I've never seen someone defend that.

Outside of that, in my opinion the Sparrow-fication of POTC was far more destructive than the auction revision will ever be. 90% of the scenes were entirely reoriented to be about a single character (of waning popularity), and in most cases it's equivalent to cramming a square peg into a round hole. Why the heck is Carlos protecting Sparrow again???

The extended HM queue is... other people have addressed that mess far more eloquently than I. I'll settle for scoffing melodramatically whenever I pass by the bathtub crypt.

I liked the original test track so much more than the overly digital and conceptual revamp. It just felt more real and had a lot more character.

The original was one of my favorite rides in Disney World but after the revamp, it dropped significantly on my list. I still enjoy it but the theming really lost something for me. It used to be one of my primary goals when I knew I was going to Epcot but I've noticed the last few times that it's now more of an afterthought for me unless I can get a FastPass.

It's funny how much the theming and concept of a ride can make a difference even when the actual ride itself stays the same.

SSE is the main one for me. Imagination is a close second, but SSE...
Will never come close to the goodness of the Jeremy Iron's version (sorry Walter Chronkite peeps; I didn't exist yet for that one): the music, the narration, the AAs, all of the above

As much as I loved Walter Cronkite's voice, the Jeremy Irons version was just about the best. The ending was so much better than the current touch screen ending. Ah well, things change . . .

Surprised nobody has mentioned Kali. Every time it goes down for its annual refurb, it seems to come back with less working than before it closed.

EDIT: I'm in the camp that thinks Dinosaur is in much better shape than it was before the refurb, but I also agree with some of the OP's points. Many areas of the ride now seem to be too brightly lit, and the penultimate Carno encounter did seem a lot less intense than it previously was. For one, he was just standing there hanging out and pretty brightly lit before we even approached him, so any element of surprise or suspense was ruined. Additionally, the roar seemed much quieter than I remember, and he didn't seem to lunge at the vehicle as threateningly as he used to. He also seemed to be moved further back from the ride path, but that could just be my imagination. Also, didn't there used to be an air cannon that blasted you as he attacked? That definitely didn't happen either.

I agree with Imagination and Test Track
Dinosaur never did it for me before or after - the ride system works better with Indiana Jones in DLR/DLP/TDR

Test Track. The original version at least provided insight into what goes into getting a car model ready to be massed produced. The new version feels dumbed down to me. Second Journey Into Imagination.

AE is the main answer for me. Went from one of the best things to one of the worst.

Also agree with Test Track, Soarin', and Imagination.
