World showcase with 8…..no, make that 7 countries

Expanding the pavilions would ultimately be pointless because a sadly significant amount of people don't want to go deeper into them and learn more about anything past what kind of alcohol they're known for.

The best World Showcase can hope for is basic, surface-level things imparted onto people by accident. For that purpose, the more countries the better.

We need all the countries there so that these people can at least understand that, for instance, France is the one with the big, A-shaped pointy thing, or that cannolis aren't from the United Kingdom.

Some people are actually proud of the country that is the most successful of any in the history of humankind…..

Trying to rank the countries of the world strikes me as a pointless exercise. There are amazing things to see and people to meet wherever you go, and declaring one nation or region superior to others goes very much against the spirit of humanity (and of Epcot, for what that’s worth).

While it’s true people can be amazing anywhere, it’s important to recognize reality when people start acting like America is no big deal. Political and economic freedom aren’t free.

The original point was having America at EPCOT makes total sense from any practical perspective.

No-one did that, though. The post you responded to stated that an American pavilion was redundant and hubristic in an American park. This isn’t a view I agree with, but I’m not sure how you took it to mean that America is unimportant.

Seems like that was the indication to me.

The USA is obviously and undeniably a very big deal on the global stage, by any rational measure. That isn’t what people are debating or disputing when they question whether it makes sense to have a pavilion devoted to America in World Showcase. (For what it’s worth, I think the pavilion works very well and is thoughtfully incorporated into the whole.)

As a native of Wales, I come across this issue quite often!
I worked with a guy from Wales. He told me lots of stories about the UK and Wales. One thing I did not know and learned was certain religions cheer a certain football team and other religions cheer the rival team.

Well, even I didn't know that! I don't follow football though and I'm not religious. Rugby is more my thing, currently sitting down waiting for the Six Nations England v Wales match to start!

I think he's talking about the Catholic vs. Protestant dynamic in Glasgow as it relates to Celtic and Rangers supporters.

It makes complete sense.
