World showcase with 8…..no, make that 7 countries

I would love it if they would add another country or two. At the very least, they could add some sort of attraction to the countries that don’t have one. If they don’t have any intentions on adding any countries, they should use the expansion pads for permanent festival booths so they could unclutter the promenade.

When did I mention I was disappointed because there was not "adequate representation"? Please point me to the post. World Showcase is what it is. And is what it has been since 1982. I always get amused when somebody thinks they can "fix" it.

Oh I didn't say you were disappointed, I replied to this which you implied that 3.5% representation wasn't a "world showcase". IMHO this topic is more of hypothetical Imagineering and more fitting to be in that forum than here. My intention was not to cast dispersion, but to amplify the futility of any attempt of representation beyond a cursory regional treatment.

So there are ~195 countries. And you think 3.5% coverage would "pull off" a world showcase. Wonderful.

IMHO its more along the lines of Sam The Eagles' "Salute to All Nations BUT Mostly AMERICA" presentation in Hollywood studios but more focused on what was decided would be viable.

We really need Brazil (to represent South America), Australia, Switzerland (bring the Matterhorn to WDW), Greece, and Egypt.
A few of my choices would be controversial but I’d love to see Russia (red square), Egypt (pyramids), Brazil (redeemer), Israel (Temple Mount)… it’s the only way many guests would ever experience them due to the risk of seeing them in person.

So basically the OP is suggesting less countries, but make them more like mini lands instead of "pavilions" to increase immersion.

I do agree that World Showcase has never felt particularly immersive to me, but the design philosophy harkens back to the original thesis of the park to be a permanent "world's fair" more than a theme park.

Something that would make the pavilions more immersive is if you had to walk through each one as you made your loop around rather than having the main walkway in front of all of them. But that also both removes the beauty of the lagoon views and the "exhibit" nature of the pavilions.

Arguably a few of them already have room to expand within their own plot areas. We've already seen this happen with Norway and France.

Canada or UK have room to expand if they decided to move/get rid of World Showplace (doubtful), I feel like Mexico has a bit of room but not sure what else could be needed as it's pretty complete.

Japan has a lot of expansion room inside for that attraction that was never built.

Germany has plenty of room as well if they expanded to where some of the festival booth areas are.

So it's not a question of space, it's a question of those existing plots being eventually used for other countries or not IMO

Something to consider from the beginning. Disney wanted the actual countries to pay for their section. And obviously the more you pay, the more you get. However that also was not without controversy. If I remember the story correctly, Japan was to get a ride and sponsored by Fuji film, which was huge at the time since if you had a camera, you either had Fuji or Kodak film in it. Which is where it went downhill because Kodak was a huge Disney sponsor (remember the camera shops at the entrances to the parks....if you are that old?) and they were furious that Fuji would be competing with them in the parks, so it never happened.

And now that Morroco pulled out and that was the last of the actual sponsored countries, I wouldn't count on any expansion or love for the countries for a long time. I mean, Morrocco ended their contract like 2020 and they still can't get that restaruant open. If opening a middle east themed restaurant is difficult, I'm thinking the actual hard work of expanding the countries in size and/or numbers would require some serious Disney magic.

I rather have underrated, nor really well known general countries that would uniquelify World Showcase and Epcot and make Epcot the place to go not that it already is.. which is why Morocco and Norway are my favorites.

I would go one with Belgium. Belgium I'm always surprised is literally the most talked about booth at the international food and wine festival. Belgium is unique..aside the beer have soups, croquettes, nose candy, real Begium waffles*** at (not the ones they serve at the festival!!!!!) in a place just like Artesian de Glace.*

Outside of unique countries realm
I do feel India and Australia would complete the circle around the globe.

Honestly, I would like to see more countries added. Yes, Canada could do more in their space and Italy and Morrocco could have a little more to do and see. Taking away would be a shame. Getting rid of China why? Now I may dislike the Chinese Government and all the Rederick that they do, but the Chinese people and their culture and their beautiful land are something to see. Plus, Chinese food is amazing.
i agree i wish there was more to do in these countries and it would spread the crowd. China should have some other attraction beside the 360. they have a lot of space. Italy, i think the courtyard is great but i wish they would bring back the wine tasting area the way it was before covid and Morocco seems like they should have something cool in the area where Marrakesh used to be. Japan should have a Mt Fuji coaster or something from Tokyo Disney/Disney sea they could copy. Canada seems like it needs a klondike style bar that you can walk into and get Canadian beer and Ice wine. lots of wasted space. the pavilion is not used anymore next to Canada. I think they could do these things cheaper than that of 5th gate and get more bang for the buck

Yes, providing the budget conditions stayed the same upon creation. But under a larger budget another 4 countries would have been preferred.

3 of the existing offer so little as to I just walk on by. France has recently expanded to make it a legitimate pavilion but all others are sorely abbreviated.

I always thought it was interesting that America sat in the middle next to its best buds Germany, Italy and Japan.

Germany, Italy and Japan... where have I seen those three together before? How's that saying go? "Keep your friends close"?

Worst tasting food at WS is at the far corners - Mexico and Canada , Norway not far behind.

Just a note that those two expanded into the next plot over in what would have been new pavilions. However Norway's meetngreet is not permanent as such, and could always go away some day for something else. Will never see Russia now (for obvious reasons though I wish from an architecture standpoint) or any other country between France and Morocco, thanks to the Rat. And for fun record if Brazil had happened it was earmarked for between Germany and Italy.
