World Showcase needs an AM Draw

Heading for the great escape.
I would imagine the cost of opening all the pavilions for an extra 3 hours for no likely increase in attendance is the real driving force.

When I did the now defunct tour, they were cleaning, that means this activity would have to be done pre opening, again adding costs.

Once upon a long time ago, World Showcase WAS open in the morning, of course. That's how the French pastry shop became such a wonderful breakfast stop.

But the nature of the attractions does tend to cause people to focus on Future World first.

But we could go with the ideas that already were there and never developed. German boat ride. Japan COP-style attraction. <snip>

Oooooohhhh, maybe a ride based on Das Boot?

Why couldn't they add the Matterhorn with a Swiss pavilion like in the original sketch work of the park... I read on other sites they threw it out and decided not to make it.. but that would be SWEEEEEET!!!

That probably won't happen now that Expedition Everest (WDW's version of the Matterhorn) is over in DAK.

This answer seems the most plausible.

I forgot to add this to my original answer: :p :D

That's not actually true. Even in the begining management knew
that it was going to take a long while before any of the first guests of the morning made it two-plus miles all the way to the back of the park.
So they conceived a "staggered opening" schedule. World Showcase was to open several hours after the opening of Future World, allowing demand to build for the back half of the park. Everything would close at the same time.

The system worked so well in distributing crowds and saving labor and utilities that Disney eventually introduced staggered openings as well as staggered closings at all of its parks.
Oh, it is true. I promise you that when I went to Epcot in 1986, we would go first thing in the morning to WS and then circle back to FW afterwards. It may be that within the WS some attractions were opening later than 9, but I don't recall that.

I think the current flow works well as it is. Even with 11:00 opening, WS doesn't start filling up until 2-3, so it seems to be a good business decision on how to efficiently operate the park.

Say What? The country I live in (America) eats breakfast, I travel to Canada quite a bit and they eat breakfast there as well. France, Italy and Germany as well as I understand it.
Perhaps the 'open WS late, close FW early' is done to meet some other objective........

Okay, everyone together now! G-U-L-L-I-B-L-E. Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

This is why I kinda wish a version of Soarin' had been placed in the WS instead of The Land.

Or <strike>cheaper</strike> better yet, Disney could just construct a moving cart, shaped like a Samsonite suitcase, that winds its way past video screens showing "Reflections of China," "Impressions de France," "O Canada!" and just 'cuz, an endless loop of "Finding Nemo."

There, I've just saved Imagineering and marketing several million dollars and several years worth of "work."

Fingers crossed for something in Japan. I kind of hope they don't open World Showcase at the same time as Future World though. I think having seperate times makes it really feel like two seperate parks.

I'd love WS to be open in the AM, it'd be nice to stagger crowds and would make getting reservations slightly easier on busier days if you're willing to have a really early lunch etc. Probably won't happen though unless they unleash an E-Ticket somewhere in that pavillions.
