World Showcase attractions

Instead of adding a country or trying to revamp FW pavilions, would it behoove Disney to take the cash and try to create some C-Ticket type attractions in the future world pavilions that currently do not have one?

I know the structures are present in some countries already, and concept work was done, so I thought it would be cheaper and expand he showcase to take the heat off some of the headliners by spreading crowds across the area.

I know it has been discussed a bit in other threads, but I was wondering if this would be a better more cost-effective option than the development and construction of a new e-ticket in Epcot.

While I DO think that WS needs a new draw be it in the form of a Pav, IllumiNations show, or parade, I think the problems of Future World are much more prevalent and noticeable. I would rather have FW fixed before they "plus" WS.

Every World Showcase country has some sort of show put on.
Drums in Japan
Mo Rockin in Morrocco
Canada has O'Canada and Off Kilter
There's also British Invasion in The United Kingdom.
China has Reflections of China and acrobats.
United States has the Garden Theatre and Voices of Liberty.
Norway has The Maelstrom
Mexico has Gran Fiesta Tour featuring The Three Cabballeros.

anyway...you get the picture.

There's lots to see besides the shops.
You just need to check for show times and places.
I like World Showcase just the way it is with the exception of missing the Character busses.
I also wish they would put something in The Wonders of Life Pavillion.
I also miss The Living statues.

There is also a big big big issue at Epcot, in that all of the attractions are sponsored by corporations or countries --

Disney itself doesn't spend a lot of money in Epcot at all except to refurb things that need it -- unless you find a major corporation that is going to spend a couple hundred million dollars to finance and sponsor a new attraction, you aren't going to find anything new at Epcot. Disney suddenly changing gears and creating something new that is sponsor-free would only serve to alienate the corporations that are still barely holding on by a thread to keep the attractions running that they are.

It's kind of a bad business model, but its one that they can't change at Epcot. When they tried to "fix" WoW they had zero corporate interest to spend the money. It was easier and cheaper for them to tear it out and use the space for banquets and large social events.

In this economy, I can't see anyone sponsoring anything new right now. It's just Business 101. For a really good explanation about why you aren't going to see anything new at Epcot that is Disney sponsored, read Disney Wars, or Realityland...

I agree with Epcot Explorer future world is a disaster and should take priority. Ok well disaster might be harsh but most of FW needs to be redone! UOE and JITI are in desperate need of change. I'm tiered of TT and right now FW is more of out dated world!

True, but if that capital is not available for all of those changes, would it make sense to plus the WS in what ways they can. They might be able to include 2-3 maller attractions on budget it would cost to provide an entirely new E-ticket future world pavilion.

I don't necessarily disagree, but I just thought I'd play the other side.

I see your point and yes if they couldn't upgrade FW for some reason I'd love to see what you said come to be.

I would love to see some new World Showcase attractions. A new ride would be great in one of the countries. Don't need anything big, just something fun to spend some time on while going around the world :). There aren't any rides after Norway, it would be nice to have one somewhere between Italy and Canada.

Wasn't there some crazy mountain themed roller coaster, probably similar to what is now Everest, in the works at one point to be built in China or some WS country or something obscure like that?

Two of them - Switzerland and Japan. Matterhorn and Fuji. Now THAT would have been an impressive skyline.

I don't think the financial impetus exists to do this. My understanding is that Disney collects royalties on the restaurants and shops. Take Japan, for example. Two restaurants always full, and a recently expanded shop that's invariably jammed. Just try getting anywhere near the pearl counter. Mitsukoshi isn't going to plunk down cash. They don't need an attraction to pack the place. And Disney isn't either. A C-Ticket is not going to draw more people to the dining and shopping options. I don't see it happening. With guests making dinner reservations six months in advance, why does a country need an attraction to draw a crowd? The French movie could close and it probably wouldn't make any difference to the restaurants there.

But would it help crowd disbursement away from FW? And wouldn't it just be a nice addition? I suppose you are right about the financing, but WS could ue some more to round out its offerings in some sections.
