The water is a non-issue. The Big-O Show in South Korea uses the site's natural salt water.

It was rumored once to replace Fantasmic at DHS, but this never happened. I am glad they never reoved Fantasmic as it is one of our favorite nighttime attractions.

Realistically, they aren't going to put such a show at DTD unless they have some way to ticket for it. Maybe if the could tie watching such a show to DQ admission, it might work.
Being practical, I think a more modest type of entertainment -- say, dancing fountains like those at the Bellagio -- would be a nice draw to DTD without the same level of expense.
Dreams? A version was proposed three years ago but they wouldn't pay for it.

That's a shame. Guess I have to go to Paris to see it. I'm guessing Celebrate the Magic is cheaper

They've already said that the night-time spectacular in AK is going to be on Discovery River, which will include water screens. So that right there confirms that it's going to be something along the lines of World of Color.

I never knew they were starting a nighttime spectacular in AK. That was the one thing that park needed. When is it supposed to start?
Mist screens can be for anything though. From Fantasmic to Dreams. Even original IllumiNations.
Consensus is next year.

They're also gonna start having live performers at night on Discovery Island, along with the night-time safaris.

Having seen WOC twice, it truly is an amazing sight to see!!!! I'd looove it to be brought to WDW. And if none of the lakes work as they currently stand....build something 
Before they announced the river of light show for AK, I was hoping that part of the avatar expansion could be an amphitheater for a night show. Build it on that large expansion pad south of camp MM and then you can release guests out to the buses/cars when it's done. Still holding out.....

. Sounds like a watered down version of Disney Dreams... but guess we wait and see how this turns out.

WDW needs to have its own show, not a copy from another park.

I agree 100% some things are better left at a single park. The fact that WoC, an amazing version of Fantasmic! and rides at DLR that are not at WDW makes me want to spend the money to go to california. DL on the other hand could have kept MSEP!
