working out for Disney

Hello-

I didn't work out yesterday, but I did a quick one today. I also bundled up went for a 45 (ish) minute walk today. My husband had non-stop soccer matches on all day and all of the excited shouting starting getting to me. LOL I think his team won, though.

Yesterday was really laid back, but we really made too much food. My flan was a hit, since it was all but gone by the time I woke up. I heard my son rifling around the kitchen last night for a late night snack and I think the flan was his snack. It was delicious, but it was so rich--I don't know how he ate so much. :depressed: My mother said she wants to come over next Christmas, so my low key, drama-free Christmas was probably a one off. :(

Oh my goodness that's my MIL!! She goes around turning up burners because she doesn't trust us to know what we're doing. I don't know how many times she's completely ruined something by burning it because I didn't noticed she had turned up the burner. Or she micromanages. Like, she'll tell you that you should turn the meat over, and even though you know it's not time yet, if you don't do it, she'll just turn it over for you because SHE wants it turned over. She'll stand there while I'm making something she's never even HEARD of that I've been making for years, and she'll say "Don't you need to do such and such?" I got so mad one year...I bake all the time, she doesn't. Cheesecake didn't exist here. My friend asked me to help her make something for her FIL, so she came over and we were making a no bake cheesecake. The recipe said to put the cookie crumb crust on the bottom and up one inch on the sides...so I was telling my friend how to do it, and she had painstakingly gotten it all even. My MIL walks into the kitchen, looks at the pan, grabs the fork from my friend, and pulls all the crumbs off the sides and says "You only need it on the bottom." She didn't even know what we were making, had never made this recipe, hadn't bothered to ask or anything...just "You don't need to do that." and totally messed it up so my friend had to start all over. And I'll teach my MIL to make something that I made and she loved, and then the next time I'm making it, she'll start telling me how to do it. Um...I taught YOU how to make this...I don't need help. And she does that too...sticking her fingers in things and licking them off and then sticking them back in again....eeeeuuuuw!

My gosh, that's annoying. LOL at her correcting your cheesecake crust! My mom doesn't do that, but she picks things like avocado or blue cheese off of a salad and I think it's rude and disrespectful after years of asking her to stop. She also has this 6th sense about avocados. She's like a cat hearing a can opener. If I make guacamole, she sidles up to me as soon as it's done. She's dipping tortilla chips in it and I am barely finished--I haven't even put it out on the table for everyone else to enjoy. I have to tell her to save some for other people. I stopped making it for family get togethers, because she would hoard it for herself. LOL

Hello-

Checking in with a kettle bell workout. I have been making use of my rebounder lately, too. I turn on some music and bounce. It's pretty fun and it had been lonely in a corner all summer.

I am supposed to go to Longwood Gardens tonight to see the Christmas display. I am kind of dreading it, since it's going to be frigid tonight. I also think I have caught my son's head cold. My left ear is congested and my throat is scratchy. We're supposed to leave at three, so I'll see how I feel then before deciding to go.

We did not do a lot for each other this year, just one gift and we always do stockings. My wife did an extra nice job of filling my stocking this year. Lots of fun stuff in it. I fill hers to the brim as well, but somehow she always outdoes my effort. Check out what was in my Christmas stocking:

It looks like a lot of tasty treats for you. Is Tiger Sauce hot? I love the photo of your dogs opening their presents.

Hello-
I am in with 50 kettle bell swings + power yoga. Last night, my husband and I went to Longwood Gardens. The traffic was insane! It usually takes us just under an hour to get there, last night it was two. It was bitterly cold and I was hoping that would keep people at home. Nope! It was sold out last night. It was gorgeous and well-done, but crazy crowded. We walked around outside for an hour and called it a day. It was hard to move around and I needed to move a more quickly to generate body heat. My husband stopped to take some photos and I could feel my body heat draining away standing there. LOL I was happy to get out of the house, though. I always feel like I get cabin fever in between Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Thank you. It is fun watching the dogs tear into their treats. As for the Tiger Sauce, it is my very favorite. It is spicy, but a flavorable spicy instead of abundant heat. It is nothing like Tabasco or Frank's Red Hot or sauces like that. It has a vinegar base with a touch of sweet and heat. Good stuff and it is good on lots of things.

Good morning yesterday was weights and aerobics(an old, old one) it popped up on youtube cheesy to say the least not sure if I'll ever want to do it again. Today just some LS and some errand running to get the last of the things I'll need for Sunday night. OMG I'm still working on the menu. So far stuffed mushrooms, spicy eggplant, hummus, naan, mango chutney. Guess I'll see what looks good when I get to the store. Happy New Year's if I get busy

Good afternoon! Just cleaning the house while DH cuts some pine limbs and burns them. I may bundle up and walk but it may be too chilly. I have been getting most of my steps in every day. It’s hard when it is too cold outside!
I am tired of food! Do you guys ever eat so much at Christmas that you just can’t look forward to cooking? I am going light tonight- broiled salmon and salad.
Everyone have a Happy New Year if I don’t get back on before then.

Greetings from the tundra!

I am in with a kettlebell workout. Wow. It was a tough one, but I feel accomplished for completing it. I took a break yesterday and saw Darkest Hour. It was good overall. Gary Oldman was excellent in it. The ending was a bit hokey, but I enjoyed the movie anyway. My husband rented Dunkirk the night before, so the only way was up from there. :hilarious:

I haven't been able to get out for a walk because of the weather and it looks like I won't anytime soon. :coldfeet:
