Hello-

I am checking in with a lower body strength training/hiit workout. Wooo. It's done and I feel really good. :)

I spent the weekend doing research into bee keeping. A few years ago, I wanted to do it, but my town prohibited it because my lot was too small. They were concerned about swarms going into adjacent back yards. The only hives I ever saw in my town were on farms with lots of land. But I think I can do it here, since I have a bit more space. I think bees are fascinating and I'd like to help keep them around. There is so much to learn, though and it seems a bit daunting.

Has anyone heard from @Songbird76? I was thinking about her today and how she's not been around lately. I hope she's ok.

I just checked her profile page, and it looks like the last time she posted was on October 8th. Maybe she's focusing on something else for the time being (sometimes, people are away from the forums for a few weeks because of other commitments), but eventually return. Let's hope all is well with her.

You're brave! :jawdrop: I don't think I'd want to be around so many bees. Years ago, I had a friend who had bees. (He had miles of woods behind his backyard, so no issues about having bees.) He was able to get honey from the hives, or whatever. He had to wear those full bodysuits and net headgear when he approached the hives.

I was wondering about her yesterday when I put away some summer clothing for the winter. I hope all is well with her and she's just busy with her music.

Good frigid morning. I'm so glad I took yesterday off. It was just what I needed and really helped me blast right through 5LS miles this morning. The guys all decided they want chili for tonight so the beans are soaking and it's lucky for them I was able to get peppers at the farm market over the weekend.:)

I didn't think to look at her profile. Good catch! :) But, yes, I hope she's just gotten a bit busy.

There is so much to learn about bees. I have been reading and watching so many videos on You Tube. The amount of information required to keep them is staggering. It does seem like a unique hobby and I think I would eventually sell honey.

I would absolutely wear the gear! I watch some of the guys on You Tube and they just go out the hive like they getting ready to barbecue. :O I guess they're experienced and feel like they know their colonies. Even if I don't pursue bee keeping, I am learning so much about bees. So, it is not time wasted. :)

I found a nice little garden center/farm stand about 5 minutes away. I've been avoiding it this month, because they have a pumpkin patch/maze going on and it's a mad house. But I like it and the produce blows away anything I have seen at Wegman's or Shop Rite.

Sounds so cool! The apple farmers near us bring in bees to help pollinate every year. And we need to save the honeybees cause they are disappearing. Have fun with your new hobby!

We have a neighbor who has a few hives as a hobby. He collects the honey as a hobby and shares the extra. He has all the equipment, extractor etc... We get a couple of jars a year. It is the best tasting honey ever, and while it does not spoil, it never lasts long at our house.

And locally produced honey is most beneficial to you. I don't have all the deets on this, but I've ready about people with certain allergies that can be helped by eating some honey. But it has to be their own local honey as the local bee pollen is the key ingredient, and can help boost your immunity.

I have read this, too. Bees are really amazing little creatures.

Wasps and hornets can go twist in the wind.
