Oh Ewww. Yeah, I'd be ready to be done with that situation, too. I really miss mountains. The Netherlands doesn't have any, and we have to drive pretty far into Germany to see some. I LOVE Bavaria, and Austria is beautiful too. I'd also like to see Switzerland, and Italy has been on my bucket list foever. That's one of the things I miss about Wyoming. Mountains close by.

And most housing over here is row housing, so you share walls with the neighbors. All of our neighbors are hard of hearing, and a lot of like to yell. The girls on one side are/were both bused to Arnhem for a special school for the hearing impaired, and on the other side, they have a light flashing doorbell. Anyway, they are all Turkish, and apparently in their culture, it's normal for kids to stay up late at night, even on school nights. I used to wonder about it, because we'd be trying to sleep, and the kids would be outside playing at 11pm. I stuck my head out the window one night and asked them to please keep it down because we were trying to sleep, and a visiting child told me to F off. On the other side, you can almost tell time by their shouting matches. Nearly every night at 11, the mother is yelling at the son who is still living at home. The daughter is married and has kids of her own now. I don't miss that on vacation. I guess there are pros and cons for each. I think ideally, I'd like to get a cabin in the mountains with all the comforts of home, but no neighbors, and close to good restaurants and site-seeing options like museums, castles, historic sites, etc.
I often think about renting a cabin, too. Marriott has these rentals that look like tiny homes called Postcard Cabins. I was so tempted to book one outside of about two hours outside of LA, but I wasn't sure if there was anything near by. I don't mind cooking on vacation here and there, but not every day, for every meal.

After we got married, we lived in a row home, too. It was the center home. One side had a couple who get into these shouting matches, too, and the other side had a baby whose bedroom shared a wall with ours. I didn't like that people look out of their bedroom window and have a bird's eye view of our back yard. I always felt like I had to keep my voice down otherwise I was disturbing someone.

I wonder if kids in Turkey play outside so late because it is so hot there in the summer? My husband used to go on vacation in Selçuk and he said it's really hot there, not unlike the US southwest. But, at any rate, it's inappropriate for a kid to tell an adult to F off just for asking them to keep it down. What a rude, little brat.

Hello-

I'm continuing to do yoga until I feel like doing something else. It's good for traveling, since I have a travel mat and it doesn't require a lot of room. I'm kind of stressed about...stuff right now, so I am hoping this will help.

I got a Covid booster and flu shot today at CVS. The pharmacist said she's seeing a lot of people coming in. She doesn't ask if anyone is high risk, either. She told me a good reason for her is "you don't like the way your hair looks today." I'm probably going to feel lousy later on, but that's the price of admission.

I wanted to make cocktails last night, but I didn't want the alcohol. So, I looked at zero proof spirits. They make different types of zero proof spirits like rum, whiskey, tequila. I wanted to make rum cocktails. OMG, a 750 ml bottle of zero proof rum is $30! I can get a bottle of the same size of Bacardi for half the price. Are you kidding me? No. Absolutely not. So, I went home and mixed a bit of OJ with some Fresca and had the saddest mocktail in the world. lol

$30 for zero proof rum? That's pretty steep and kind of unnecessary for a mocktail. I like your idea of the OJ and Fresca better. I understand NA beer because beer has a strong distinct flavor but the zero proof rum, vodka and tequila not so much.
