Working in MK

Hi Everyone:

I live in Celebration, FL and live so close to Disney World that I thought it would be fun to work there. They are having a job fair next week. I am thinking about going down to apply. My problem is trying to figure out what to apply for. I'm thinking either merchandise or front desk. I have lots of retail experience and would probably enjoy merchandise. I would love to work at the Emporium on Main Street or the Christmas shop in MK but would I get a choice? Has anyone worked there and was it enjoyable? Thanks for any info ya'll can give me. :)

Hi and welcome to the boards!!!!
I am sooo envious that you live in Celebration. It is where my dream house would be.If you want a certain role I would tell them at casting when you apply. It doesnt mean you will definately get a certain role like merchandise but with your backround with retail I would think they would use that to place in that role.
GOOD LUCK:wave:

i've been at the emporium since january and it's been the best experience of my life. the emporium is great because there's always something going on, so it's impossible to be bored...there are also several different roles you can be trained in to keep a bit of variety. however, it's not for everyone...i love the fact that it's always busy, but i know some people find it overwhelming. but it sounds like you'd be ok with that. working on main street in the magic kingdom, watching both parades and wishes on a daily basis, and having the opportunity to create magic for guests from all over the world -- that's what disney is to me. the emporium cast is a great group of people, too.

Thanks for the advice wedway71 and westside4life! I really appreaciate it!

I'm glad to hear that you like working at the Emporium westside4life. One of the reasons that I was considering it was because I thought that it would be busy and I like to keep busy. I am used to a busy work enviroment. I've worked in a movie theater, clothing store, and my favorite both Barnes and Noble and Border's. I have lots of customer service experience. I enjoy helping people. I thought about front desk at a resort hotel but I like to be moving around a lot so I'm not so sure I would enjoy that but who knows....maybe I would.

I live in the Artisan Park village. I love it here! :)

Yes, it seems that Artisan Park is nearly complete. I live back in the new condo area and we have heard they are aiming to be done by the end of this year. Most of the homes around here appear to be almost done. There are a few that are still in construction. I have read in the Celebration newspaper that they are planning new condo homes over near the high school and at World Drive. I think I read like 999 units. I could be wrong though. I'm lucky.....we love it here. Can't complain living so close to Disney World. :)
