Work on mansion

Well they have started building on the HM. Yesterday night they had lights up on the roof and occasionally you would hear the audio. I'm sorry that I do not have pictures but I could not get a decent shot. Anyways at first it appeared that there were decorations on the roof that were similar to the haunted mansion during Christmas. You know when the night before christmas decor is up. I asked a cast member what it was and he kept it brief by saying that he can't release much info on the refurb but that it will include new audio and new "spirits." Other than that everything around thee parks was the same, MGM was very packed.

Hmmm....although I highly doubt Nightmare is coming to MK, it's still a slight possibility. The whole thing is being kept pretty quiet around the MK. The only thing I've seen going in is plywood, nails, and some workers...

Hmmm...I really have been surprised that more about this mansion refurb hasn't been leaked. I guess we shall see when it reopens! If there is Haunted Mansion Holiday in the future for MK, why would the decorations be put up now? That doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Teenchy-True nobody coming out! (btw you still owe me ICE CREAM!!!!)

WDWFigment-It does seem early, but IF true, it'd be a field test. However the overlay would occur at re-opening in Sept and run through Jan. No need to close it twice in a row. I highly doubt it's HMH, but you never know.

I really do hope it's the Nightmare Before Christmas, if you haven't been to Disneyland - you definatly should experience it. The decor & such are fantastic, & they change the entire ride in & out.

I'm actually one who really hopes it's not. I like the mansion in it's original form and will be disappointed (probably...since I've never seen HMH) if they change the HM...especially for my trip in Sept. I would much rather see the other version of the mansion.

One thing that I've never understood about the HM overlay is:
How is it that Disney can decorate ALL the parks for Christmas, seemingly overnight, during regular park closing hours, but they have to close HM at Disneyland to put up a ONE attraction decoration overlay.

Audio-animontronics, New Lighting, new pictures, it's a huge overlay. And the fact that they change it a bit every year ads to the time, but the need to at local-fed DL, here they could just keep 1 version.

Why not for the holiday season, they just add a few props the the mansion that they could do over a few nights instead of the HMH. They could add a tree in the ballroom with presents, put santa hats on a character or two ect...

I think that would be the best. Just like someone put up christmas decorations in the house instead of changing the whole story.

All CMs (with the exception of some) have only been told that there will be new lighting and sound, as well as a few new ghostly spirits. (like previously posted here.) No other information has been released to CMs..yet.. oh and they have been doing work inside the mansion, a lot of junk being removed but i have no idea what any of it was.

Whereabouts was the roof work?

The whole entryway is supposed to be rebuilt. There's something up with that whole overhang around the graveyard that warrants it's full replacement.

Other then that, all I've seen thus far is a tent structure setup in the exit area - probably for paint work like the coral at Seas - and I noticed a wreath on the front door of the fascade I never noticed before.

I havent forgot....:animwink: ..I'll probably be down sometime for the Wine & Food Festival...could change that ice cream to something that fits better into a glass or mug!:slurp:

If only I was 21, I'd be set! Unless you're suggesting I have a Frozen Coke!

Hmm...sounds familiar, although I heard something else in Once Upon a Time class, but nothing unexpected.

I know this might sound blasphemous, but the NBC overlay of the Haunted Mansion is actually better than the classic Haunted Mansion itself. I know, i know!! Trust me, I'm the biggest haunted mansion fan in the world and I adore it's story, detail, music and characters. I also was so biased for so long and was unsure about seeing the NBC overlay, thinking it might "ruin" the classic ride...but it was AMAZING. It's not just decorations, it's new AA, new music, new narration, new story, new details - everything. A lot of you already know this but that's my 2 cents!

I hope this refurb is just to update the classic mansion and freshen it up, but I also hope that one day WDW gets to experience the NBC overlay.

Is there any truth to the rumour of a gift shop being installed? I would love nothing more than to by Haunted Mansion stuff I don't need.

As I said before sorry for the lack of photos I could not get a good enough shot of what seemed to be new decor. It was really close to the edge of the rook. There were temporary flood lights up and workers walking around. They were playing the usual audio occasionally which was odd.
