So I know there was a thread a while back about future construction on this theater, but i had just assumed it was internal things (lighting, sound, seats, etc..). After looking on wikimapia I noticed what appeared to be construction behind the theater? Anyone know whats going on?

I think it was presented as an actual rumor. Not sure though. I'd love it.

Eh, much as I love Tangled and want it to find its place in the parks, the music is really quite average. I'd much rather see a return of the Hunchback stage show, which I recall was fairly popular despite the movie's lackluster performance. Even Princess and the Frog has a stronger set of songs.

Hunchback won't happen. But I actually liked Princess and the Frog better than Tangled.

Perhaps PatF and Tangled could replace the BatB and VotLM shows? After all both of their musical scores will be represented in the FLE...

I'd love that. PATF could go where mermaid is and reuse some of the water themed stuff since it's on the Bayou and they spend most of the film as frogs anyway. Perhaps create an all new under water short story to play out on stage?

And the Beauty and the Beast stage is pretty much an blank canvas. Could be perfect for Tangled.

I never was a huge have of the Beauty and the Beast show at DHS. Neon colors, poor costumes and bad set designs. I'd love to see it replaced. And it's one of my favorite movies.

Better backstage area for cast/crew of the show and Ops Cast Members break room.

YES!!

The backstage area is horribly small and does not provide enough storage for Costumes/Sets/Props/etc. As it is, those giant ball gowns are evaluated each day (based on the performers scheduled), and those not needed have to be raised into the fly space just to create walking room backstage.

This refurb will be expanding the area immensely as well as adding other Cast features. It's been in the works for quite sometime... I toured it in July and the area was just getting prepped for construction.

I wish that disney had a revolving set of plays/musicals and a better venue.

Although an expanded backstage area is not as fun to speculate as something guest-facing, it's certainly good to hear that the cast members are getting some love.

The quality of the cast members is what's keep WDW a step above Universal.

Princess and the Frog has an amazing soundtrack... one of my favorites in a very very long time. However, I don't think they should get rid of a classic like Beauty and the Beast in place of a newer movie like Tangled until they know if that will have some staying power. :)

Musically, I think Princess and the Frog is the only thing that has come from Disney Animation that is even close to Beauty and the Beast. While I don't like some of the costumes for the show at DHS, it is usually very well performed, especially by the young lady that I've seen playing Belle. She has an amazing voice!
