Work being done behind Beauty and the Beast at DHS

Princess and the Frog has an amazing soundtrack... one of my favorites in a very very long time. However, I don't think they should get rid of a classic like Beauty and the Beast in place of a newer movie like Tangled until they know if that will have some staying power. :)
You mean the Beauty and the Beast stage show that was never intended to be there for more than a year or two?

Lets be real here - people still see that show because its somewhere to sit out of the sun, and its something to do in a park that is not a full day park. Not because its a particularly memorable show or anything.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound rude, but that is very inaccurate. Myself, my family, and my friends all consider Beauty and the Beast and Voyage of the Little Mermaid to be must-dos every time we visit DHS, sometimes more than once a trip. They are both landmark movies and deserve shows. :sohappy:

Besides, why replace when there is an empty theater in the back? I would love to see something go there, since it is (for the most part) a wasted space. :brick:

Last time I heard the Hunchback theather was used to store much of the Osborne light display during the off-season.

It is also true that BatB was not meant to be in the theater for more than a few years and is due for a refresh. Popular or not. I know that we all tend to get emotionally involved when it comes to talking about replacing attractions, but I think that it's more believable that many people see it because it's out of the sun and the DHS line-up for family attractions isn't particularly strong over that it's a popular and memorable show.

I still disagree. Maybe for some, but not for most. Go look on the Walt Disney World Facebook post. One of the number one responses so far on a question asking which show you would see if you could only see one more is Beauty and the Beast.

Like I said, that may be the case for some people, but I think that is too broad of a generalization to say it is nothing more than a retreat from the sun. And besides that, everytime I go, there are always people on the bleachers outside!

Now, you want to replace a show...replace Indiana Jones or American Idol...not a Disney classic! :dazzle:

And that is very interesting about the hunchback...I had never heard that. I was under the impression it was for special events only.

I see Fantasmic and Lion King as the top answers.

I agree with you on AI though.

Perhaps PatF and Tangled could replace the BatB and VotLM shows? After all both of their musical scores will be represented in the FLE...

Wait! What? Care to elaborate? :king:

On a side note, it only makes sense that they would be considering replacing BatB and LM at DHS seeing as those franchises are such a big part of the FLE. But where would PatF and Tangled best be located? Hmmm.

Even I now think AI may be on the downhill as a franchise and I have been one of its bigger defenders in the past. That leaves potentially 3 to 6 available venues at DHS.

There are shows in DHS that are getting tired, and they need to be replaced with new rides: Sounds Dangerous, American Idol, Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast.
