McDonald's, as most people know, is doing that Monopoly competition. I really want to get that home theater. I have Pacific and North Carolina Avenues, which means that I need Pennsylvania Avenue. A close friend of mine happens to have Pennsylvania Avenue. He is charging me $500 for the game piece. Do you think it's a ripoff?

But friends ever since 4th grade are hard to come by and almost impossible to leave...and I don't feel like decking a guy for a damn piece of paper when I haven't even thrown a punch aimed at someone since I was a senior in high school. :D

Retail value: $4,700 each, Jeff.

$500 is a lot to pony up, though. No, I take that back. It isn't.

"Pacific Avenue (Stamp #4018), North Carolina Avenue (Stamp #4019) & Pennsylvania Avenue (Stamp #4020). Home Theater System: Twenty five (25) prizes are available. Each winner will receive a Toshiba 32" Theater Wide® True 720p HD LCD display with built-in speakers and tuner (model # 32HL84) and Toshiba Home Theater System with 400 Watts Total Output Power, DVD/VHS System with Color Stream Pro® Progressive Scan (model # SDV55HT). Installation is not included. ARV – $4,700 each."

Wow, I didn't know it was worth $4,700. Every stupid advertisement in Sound & Vision magazine for a home theater makes it look about $750 with a 63" screen and 7.1 surround sound.

I agree, but I'll go a step further and say that a close friend should let you have the piece, not charge you $500. But maybe it's different between guys.

At any rate, good luck!

At any rate, your "friend" should be given 1/3 of the profits, since he provided 1/3 of the needed game pieces.

4700/3 = 1566.67.

That Pennsylvania Avenue game piece isn't worth $500, it's worth $1600!

LOL

Charge him a $1000 for both of yours and get something else that you really want!! :)

That system for $500 seems like a good deal to me!

Penn Ave is the hard one to get. The other two are worth nothing. Everyone gets the other two. Give him the $500 for it. It's worth the entire home theater. Your pieces are worthless almost.

THis is what I was thinking. He's been a close friend since fourth grade and he's charging you $500 for the piece? Looks like your friendship can be bought. If you were that good and long of a friend to me, I would give you the piece to see you happy.

It's not a guy thing, Erika.

I'm calling BS on you or your friend... can't decide which one.

288bsflag-thumb.gif

Why am I calling BS? cause I've played that monopoly game, year after year, and there's always 1 piece left to win for everyone who plays it. If your friend is offering it for $500, he's either an idiot, or he's full of ____!t... or you could be full of it, claiming something that really isn't.

Plus... is a home theatre system REALLY worth the heart attack you're gonna get from the mcdonalds in a month?
