The sun is shining here, and it's a warm spring day, and in only 15 more days, we will leave for our next big Disney adventure. It's a special trip (aren't they all special, though) this time around in that it is our daughter's first Disney trip. She will be 3 in June and we look forward to introducing her to WDW and seeing her big brother show her the ropes.
It takes about 18 hours (if driving straight through) to get from our house to WDW, but we are leaving extra early this year so as to allow time to make any side stops we may want to make, in addition to the usual stops at the rest areas, outlet mall, restaraunts, etc. Here is our itinerary:
Monday April 9: Leave first thing in the morning, around 6 AM or so. Probably drive until 10 or so at night, Eastern time, as I plan to cross over the time zone this day. Not sure what kind of side stops we may make. We had thought about Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, if it doesn't take too long. If it only takes a couple hours or less, then maybe. There is some kind of old settlement in Paducah, KY that we see signs for whenever we go by, so we may stop there. Will stop at Metropolis, IL like we normally do, and see the Superman stuff.
Tuesday April 10: Drive the rest of the way, planning to arrive at Orlando by late afternoon/early evening. Staying the first two nights at Nickelodean Suites. Not sure how far we will get Monday night, so I'm not sure where we will be leaving from Tuesday morning, but hopefully we will be able to stop at an outlet mall at some point. Maybe a pecan store in Georgia, or a citrus place in Florida. When we get to the Nick Suites, I'm not sure if we will just enjoy the hotel all evening, or if we will run into town for mini-golf or what.
Wednesday April 11: Sea World all day. Not sure about the evening.
Thursday April 12: Arrive at Carribbean Beach Resort. Downtown Disney and lunch at T-Rex. That evening, probably go into Kissimmee for our usual Walmarting and mini-golf.
Friday April 13: Breakfast at Kona Cafe, then Magic Kingdom. Supper at Mickey's Backyard BBQ.
Saturday April 14: Lego Land, then supper at Chef Mickey's.
Sunday April 15: Go to the ocean for a while, then supper at Grand Floridian Cafe. I'm kind of hoping to take my son into the Magic Kingdom that night for EMH while my wife and daughter call it a night back at the hotel. I've been dying to take my son on Splash Mountain, but he's apprehensive about it and it's hard to coax him into it with my wife around playing mama hen. Maybe if I can get him into the park alone, just the two of us, I can persuade him into riding it with me without my wife interfering with "Steve, if he doesn't want to, he doesn't have to, etc". LOL
Monday April 16: Breakfast at Tusker House, then Animal Kingdom. Later that evening, supper at 50s Prime Time and DHS all evening, and possibly into EMH. Haven't checked yet to see when Fantasmic is showing, but if it is playing this night, we may watch the show.
Tuesday April 17: Epcot EMH and all day until midday break. Then the rest of the evening at our hotel. Supper at Shutters, pool time, bike ride, etc.
Wednesday April 18: nothing set in stone all day until supper time. Supper at Coral Reef and the rest of the evening at Epcot. Possibilities for the rest of the day include resort hopping, going to the Orlando Mall, going out on the boat on the lake, or any combination of the above, or maybe we'll find something else to do.
Thursday April 19: Magic Kingdom all day and evening (with a midday break in there somewhere) and supper at Tony's Town Square.
Friday April 20: DHS in the morning and breakfast at Hollywood & Vine. Evening at Epcot, including EMH, and supper at Garden Grill.
Saturday April 21: Magic Kingdom all day and evening. Breakfast at Crystal Palace and supper at Cinderella's Royal Table.
Sunday April 22: time to go home.
Just 9 more shifts left at work, and we need to pick up the rest of our snack items for the trip. These final two weeks before a trip are so exciting, especially when spring is in the air outside!
