Rumor Wonders of Life getting an attraction soon?

Convention space and special events generate large amounts of revenue for wdw...Epcot is basically dependent on them now.

Wonders is for this purpose. It is no longer a "pavilion"'and won't return.

Look no further than "millennium village"...a temporary structure used for catering that apparently is a "go" to stay till the next millennium.

Anything that's going to happen in Epcot for the next five years is pretty well known to our insiders and they all agree: Something in WoL isn't happening in that time frame.
At the moment it isn’t but let’s just say demolition isn’t as certain as it may once have been.

There’s also a semi recent idea that maybe festival space isn’t the best use of a $85 million dollar facility.

In the meantime anything used by cast or guests has to be maintained. It’s likely this is work that can’t be ignored anymore.

Well this is somewhat good news or is this more of a “careful what you wish for” scenario?

That building has a few terrible leaks in the dome area.. Even if it’s still only used for festival activities they would still maintain the roof.

Soooo...where does one get such golden roof-tiles?

I'm going to guess that the Lowe's or Home Depot near Kissimmee doesn't usually have them in stock...?

Just a guess.

With the way this building is neglected and mis-used, any kind of upkeep is good. Starting to think we should call it "Wonders of Death"...

...the tiles came from the Atlantic City High Roller Tile Emporium...

They were rad back in the 80's...but some of the casino operators failed, so business isn't what it used to be.

Would it be foolish to expect a ride there in the next decade?

It would be an incredible turn of events for them to make that back into a real guest area. If I recall...they floated that it was "structurally unsound" when it closed. A bold lie...but it was clear they had no desire to maintain the space when the sponsor pulled out.

More likely is that they take it down and then build a new concept if the Epcot revitalization goes well.

Even more likely is festival/convention space for the foreseeable future.

Before 2028? Stranger things have happened. A long shot but not foolish. Demolition is no longer the only option on the table.
If I recall correctly, at one time, wasn't one option was a second Guardians attraction or the possibility of merging UoE and WoL into one GotG mini land? What is the possibility one option on the table now would be a different IP taking over the pavilion? Or could it still be a Guardians part 2?

There was one proposal around two years ago to demo and build another pavilion. One IP was indeed Guardians. Looks like this Is less likely now such is the speed proposals get changed and cut for this park.

I never got to see EPCOT in its glory since I wasn't born until the 90's, but for me, every time I go, the size, scope, and structure of the original pavilions and SSE still wow me. The fact that a group of people were that talented to think up those awesome buildings in their unique shapes and configurations makes me long for the Disney of that time even though I never experienced it. Wodners of Life and Imagination are prime examples.

Photos of Horizons make me really sad I never got to ride it (that I can remember - although I do remember the original iteration of the Seas for some reason). I also remember Body Wars over in Wonders of Life.

Off topic, @marni1971 can you comment on the below picture - it's something I found through googling EPCOT 1982. Is this an accurate model of how the park was once imagined to be?

That was EPCOT Center circa 1978. Clockwise from the bottom you have SSE, Energy, Land and Mineral, Transportation, FutureProbe, The Seas and Century 3 (which shouldn’t have existed on the same model as Futureprobe - often these pavilions were swapped in and out of the model almost daily)
