What can I say, I'm having a slow day ... lol and the Marvel contract talk ad nauseum .... we need a pinned Marvel contract thread with highlights so if any questions come up they can be directed to said thread. Oh, wait .... ;)https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1262449/000119312510008732/dex1057.htm

Not a thread here, of course, which we probably should have ...

Page 763 Paragraph 6321 §234.4 is a riveting explanation of the preconditions for proper uses of Marvel IP in theme park bathrooms east of the Mississippi.

In my opinion this seems like something Disney would do if they planned on using the space as a “temporary long term space”. I could see this being a temporary location for Mouse Gear while they take a few years to redo the entire spine of Epcot project. Obviously all that merchandise has to go somewhere.

Mouse gear can use Inno west. Centorium moved three times. Anyway, Wonders is too far out the way to be a store.

Come on ya'll, you know it's going to be the new Hungry Hungry Heroes QS location.

With an Icy Giant Loki-colada cooler, served in a frosty mug.. Just like Hawkeye, it always hits the spot after fighting the universes biggest battles on a sweltering summer afternoon! After cooling down with your favorite demigod you love to hate, your Hulk-like hunger kicks in. Luckily enough there's a 1/2 lb Hulkbuster burger at your beckon call just like Mjölnir is for Thor.. Are you worthy enough to take it on?!?

This stuff writes itself...

Possibly not.

Things seem to have moved on (or back) from that piece of blue sky concept art.

I don't think they'd ever spend the kind of money it seemed that blue sky concept art would need to make a reality LOL. So that's probably a good thing. I'm all for more greenery and water, and improvements, but they don't need to demo buildings, use what's there .... But like I said, they need to have a better purpose. I don't want to be in the same situation we're in now, so if that's the case, demo them and give me something nice to look at. But I'd prefer they use the buildings and keep them.

Tarps, tombstones and paint still a given? They do realize a little can go a long way, I'd hope ... I just don't want NOTHING to happen, lol. So I hope a re-do plan is still on the table.

Any word on the Epcot entrance hotel? Is that still a possibility? (Not that I want it; just wondering about it)

It'd be nice to have a refreshed entry plaza when Epcot hits 40 in 2022.

100% agreed. If they can get rid of the sprawls of concrete and bring back the water features that were there (or a twist of the original layout), get rid of the tarps, demo the tombstones, and paint CC to be good looking, then I'd be fine with the "overhaul".

I want to see something happen but nothing that requires destroying well established buildings and turn it into a rainforest with some fancy buildings around the outskirts. I'm open to change such as modifying CC to fit their needs but nothing that ends in a demo with grass where buildings once stood.

some people really want to see marvel attractions in Disney World real bad, so bad that they will try to ignore or find ways to get around the contract without being a lawyer. Some people hate the thought with a passion and will pull that contract out and wave it in others faces saying it will never happen. But I think it will happen. You see Marvel has about 7000 properties and they can always create more.

Scenario 1. Disney could create an event that shuts down the Marvel universe and everything is reborn under a new comic publisher with all the major characters slightly altered. Bang the Marvel universe is killed and a new universe and publisher are born. Any support for the old universe dies. Characters like the Avengers become the revenge squad or Avenging Angels led by General Stars and IronSteel. After a year or so of fans crying out, they bring it all back, but now have something they can use everywhere. And if you think the publicity wouldn't be huge you've never seen true believers go crazy and believe me they would have the media with them every step of the way .

Scenario 2. Disney uses characters not in the contract or locations in the marvel universe. This is what has happened with Big Hero Six and Guardians. I doubt that its an accident that Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, the Punisher, Daredevil and the Defenders were chosen for Netflix. The same for Shield at ABC, and Cloak and Dagger at Freeform. They are building a brand and demand for characters that have taken a backseat to the big cash cows. Don't be surprised to see phase four of the Marvel movies include a character or two that circumvent the contract so they can see use them in the park. Two Gun Kid, or the Rawhide kid might turn out to be a great fit for a frontier land expansion, or the Manthing as a character for the land.

Scenario 3. A deal is made with Comcast to use part or all of the Marvel universe in their parks.

You have to look at the money Marvel has made off of their movies. It's why they are buying Fox. That deal will allow them to make movies for the next twenty years before anything they previously made will be remade That equals about 30 billion in todays dollars in box office sales and another 30 billion in rentals and merchandising.

Like it or not Disney will get Marvel into Disney World.

One thing that shocks me is that I'm surprised they didn't turn the Universe of energy into a voyage into the savage land. We all know how they like to save money, or not spend it. (Maybe they are saving that for the Animal Kingdom.)

I doubt if Kazar and the Savage land are in the contract since he is a character that goes back to the golden age of comics, and as a layover it would have cost 25% of what they are spending now. He could be considered part of the X-Men family since that is where his Silver age debut occurred, but the hidden details keep us from knowing that.

They could have then put The Guardians into Wonders of Life with a little longer tunnel and the same building in back. Two brand new IP's and attractions ready to milk the public.

Why stop there though. The Seas could become Atlantis, The Land, Waconda, Mission Space into a journey to the Negative zone, Test Track become Racing the Ghost Rider, Spaceship Earth into Marvelous Journeys, and Imagination a Scientific Showcase demonstrating things that made the heroes special with Howard the Duck replacing Figment.

And every diehard EPCOT fan just died. However at least it would have a theme to it. And I doubt if they ever have to use Marvels name to sell any ride featuring something from the Marvel universe. A Ride featuring Suri as the White Panther taking you on a journey through Wakonda could probably pass the smell test if locations are not specified in the contract.

Except the insiders on this board have said that Marvel is done in Epcot (though I suspect that doesn't include Big Hero 6, which is now effectively Disney).

and if the ride brings in a ton of people marvel will flood the parks. Look at Toy Story or Pixar How many attraction will they have next year

I’m certainly not an insider but due to a few specific personal circumstances of which I’m unable to share, I do know the entrance hotel is currently shelved... most likely for good. Sorry I can’t say more. And I can’t really say this upsets me lol
