So if Disney wanted to keep the message of the original epcot they need to figure out how to do it and teach it with todays generation in mind.... The problem is they dont want to do this and are taking the easier path of changing the park from its glory days to just another theme park.
I thought that was the reasoning behind the GMR replacement... put Mickey Mouse in a frame of reference for today's generations...

Yeah but that is a ride that should be done but they should have added not replaced! That is my only issue with that ride I cannot wait to ride it and I know I will love it but it really should have been an addition....

One wonders if anything original, massive and impressive like The Haunted Mansion or Pirates would ever be built in a Disney theme park today. The answer is probably "no". Bob Iger is focused on branding and merchandise. To him, the parks are just places to push those elements. Damn sad if you ask me.
Well they have built overseas many new E tickets that are original. ToT, Soarin, RR, GG, MM.

Is this actually happening? I thought they were just fixing the roof?

Or maybe people on vacation didn't want attractions preaching to them about energy conservation, ocean conservation, responsible agriculture, staying healthy, etc...

I think it's a case of both. There's always going to be a portion of the audience who feel that way.

It's also how you look at it. You can look at it as "preaching" (why is learning something being called "preachy") but personally most of the rides were fun and I didn't think they were preachy. No one forced anyone to ride Body Wars or watch Making of Me. But they aren't going to appeal to everyone. But they shouldn't cater to that audience. I think there can be a better balance of IP versus originality.

I don't think people quite grasp when some of us say the company's done a terrible job promoting their four parks. Older ads used to to blur them all together. I guess they assume most know but many don't. Look at old informational VHS tapes that they sent out. The programs that ran on resort TV .... that's what a lot of us are talking about when we say they suck at getting the messages of the parks across. They didn't have that problem in the 70s and 80s and 90s.

None of us know for sure (other than insiders of course, lol). It sounds like Wonders of Life is being looked at again but it doesn't guarantee we get anything in there. And we could be back to using it as a Festival Pavilion next year. Maybe they had more work to do that they weren't prepared for so they decided to not use it this year as the Festival Pavilion. I really hope they decide to put something in here though. Let's hope it doesn't pop back up next year as the Festival Pavilion.

WondersOfLife

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
But an enormous amount of people would love nothing more than to be inspired about all that. People love what they are good at, so smart people love learning, while others resent it for that same reason.

Sadly Disney learned that while smart people on the whole may have higher incomes, the lower incomes spend more on useless trinkets, fatty foods, booze and theme parks.

EPCOT:

The Universe we know is one of dynamic forces -- its heartbeat sending a constant flow of energy coursing through the vastness. This energy is never destroyed, nor is this energy created. But energy is perceived in different forms.

Within the atoms of all matter - on a level most infinitesimal, yet most powerful - is nuclear energy.
Binding atoms into molecules and crystals - and stored in the cells of all living things - is chemical energy.
In the sudden flow of electrons there is electrical energy.
In the world around us, there is constant motion - and in this motion, there is mechanical energy.
Unleashed in the motion of molecules themselves is heat energy.
Finally, washing over the Earth in an all-pervasive, never ending flood is light energy.

We long observed with fascination, the interplay of these elemental forms of energy, noting that certain forms often changed into others.

Then, through the genius of the human mind, came the realization that energy could be harnessed and made to work for us.

TBH GOTG coasters looks more entertaining to me. But what do I know. I'm only 20. Merely a child.

Am I the only one that felt the delivery of that line in particular drastically changed Drax as a character? I think if that line was delivered as a deadpan, somewhat oblivious line like it would have been in the first movie, it would have been better. Drax was funny when he didn't realize what he was saying was funny.

Indeed. I would even extrapolate that to the entire cast and indeed movie.

GotG I was a hoot, a riot. Episode two was fun too, but it worked almost too hard at being fun, was a bit too self-conscious.

In today's episode of The Disney Dish, Jim Hill states that Wonders of Life is being considered for a Wakanda / Black Panther attraction and that the surprise success of the film had execs scrambling to check out the site.

He adds (as previously discussed on this board) that there are complications stemming from IOA, but he believes that issue to be something Disney lawyers might be able to work out with Universal.

On a related note, due to corporate's eagerness to get BP into parks, Jim also speculated that a Black Panther show is being considered as a temporary replacement for Rivers of Light.

Take both of these tidbits with a very large grain of salt of course, as Jim's sources are often candid in nature and tend to reflect internal chatter more than anything.

EDIT: Grammar corrections.

Time will tell I suppose

They have a yuuuuge plot of land over there in Animal Kingdom ..... east of Africa. You know. Which would be a good place for Wakanda. (And no I'm not fanboying to get it into the parks, I *shhh* haven't seen it yet). And yeah, go ahead and lament me suggesting Marvel in Animal Kingdom, LOL. I know that sounds crazy. But I'd rather it there than Epcot.

However, they should put something like Big Hero 6 or Inside Out in Wonders of Life, balance out that side of the park. A high thrills Black Panther attraction is not the answer (I also have doubts about the legitimacy of BP going into Epcot but we have Guardians so who knows?)

They state that the optimism arises from the issue stemming from the inclusion of Black Panther in IOA artwork, rather than a canon conflict.

The Black Panther is an Avenger. Hill has repeatedly made comments (such as talking about renewal and expiration) that suggest he has never bothered to sit down and read the contract for himself.

Typical Jim Hill: presenting speculation as rumor.

Does anyone believe that the president of parks would show up to look at WoL with all the other big wigs to eyeball a pavilion for an IP they're not sure they can use yet? And that's why there's no F&G displays in there?

If WDW was really anxious to use BP in their parks, they would have set up a M&G already and see what Uni would do about it.
