You may wind up deciding you enjoy Wilderness more, but odds are you won't be disappointed in BCV. I'd also suggest it may depend on how much time you intend to spend OUTSIDE of the parks. in terms of amenities, VWL has ferry/bus and is walking distance to Fort Wilderness. It has boat service (sometimes) to the Contemporary which gives you monorail resort access. Whereas at BCV, you're walking distance to the Boardwalk & Boardwalk district, as well as Swan & Dolphin (and of course Yacht Club). This gives you and your family a small amount of nightlife and many more restaurants to saunter to - and speaking of food, you're also very close to many of the World Showcase restaurants. As much as I like Wilderness, it was so nice, when we stayed at Boardwalk, to be able to go back to our room, freshen up and change to dinnerish attire and bes within a 10 minute walk to so many restaurants. We planned ADRs accordingly, and those nights we never had to worry about finding a parking space or waiting on transportation.
VWL is certainly not in the middle of nowhere, but it is designed to feel that way. Lots of people like it, but I'd suggest, if you like being able to make some spur of the moment "let's go here/let's do this" decisions, BCV is a better choice.
