WL vs CSR

We are currently booked in a bunk bed woods view room at Wilderness Lodge, but I'm thinking about changing over to Coronado Springs. Obviously, WL is more expensive being that it is a deluxe, but it would be much more convenient for a number of our ADRs and our MK days. We've also stayed there before and while it's not my favorite, I know the rest of the family really enjoys it. On the flip side, at least from the pictures I've seen- I really like the rooms at CSR more and their pool looks really awesome (we do have pool time factored into at least one -maybe 2 days no the trip). However, we've never stayed at a mod before, so I'm afraid about the resort feeling huge and the bus travel time being an issue.

There are obviously pros and cons to staying at each one. So, I'm asking for your help either...

...talking me into sticking with WL
OR
...talking me into switching to CSR

Thanks for helping with my insanity ;):D:)

Never having stayed at either....I've always wanted to stay at WL. It looks great, we've eaten there and have hoped to afford it someday. Having said that, I checked out the site dedicated to CSR and I think I would stay there if the price was right. The theming looks fun and different from the other resorts we've seen. The resort does look huge, but all of them are, to a certain extent and if you need it I think you can make the busses work for you.

IMO the main pool area and slide are better at CSR and the buses to not share with another resort. You could have far walks at both but the difference is that CSR's walks are outside vs inside at WL

CSR does hav some deluxe amenities like a fitness center, spa, salon, dance club, preferred rooms and buisness club level rooms with access to the Coconino Lounge.

Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

Haven't stayed at CSR but I did stay at WL. It was 10 years ago, but not much as changed! WL is a great resort. The theming is amazing and there's a very "homey" feel in the lobby. I really like the pool and the geyser is really neat. The boat to MK is somewhat convenient, but you also have the bus if you want it. It's also convenient for any MK/monorail resort reservations.

These are all the things we love about the Lodge. We can't imagine staying anywhere else even if it means we can only come every few years.

is this a question? Wilderness Lodge all the way! :D (I've been to both)

I know a lot of people would say the choice is obvious, but there are a number of things I'm seeing - at least in picture form- that are making CSR look attractive. Still, says a lot when people such as yourself have stayed at both and feel strongly that WL is the right choice. Thanks!

Stayed once @ CSR. If I was in your shoes, I would stay with your WL reservation.

Anything specific that turned you off to CSR? Or is it just that WL is just a more convenient and comfortable stay?

Having stayed at both, I believe you will be happy at either. I like both resorts, but for me, Wl wins out on location. While I understand that the bus system is necessary, I really don't like it. Having the option to take a boat to MK is a big plus for me.

And that's one of my big concerns...bus service. Of course, we had pretty bad bus service on our last stay at WL; however, we'd be using the boat much more this trip due to our schedule. Transportation and location convenience have always been big to me.

Do what you were taught in school...always go with your first choice. It is usually the right one :)

Actually, if I made this switch...it would be my 3rd choice. I really wanted to stay at the Contemporary as that's my fave, but I wasn't able to get the room I wanted at the 30% discount. :( Sooooo, we switched over to WL because DH really enjoyed our stay there. Still, you make a very good point...I switched resorts 4x last trip before we traveled and I was not happy in the end.

17 trips to CSR and always had great bus service. Sure you get an occasional trip that seems long because you just missed the bus you wanted but that can happen at any resort. The buses at CSR are usually less crowded because its a convention resort so those guests are busy at meetings and not taking a spot at the pool or bus.

I'm sure if you search around you will see that the consensus is that the service at CSR is one of the best. It is not shared like WL.

Oh my goodness do people overreact! CSR is a really lovely resort. It is large in size compared to WL. Your choice totally depends on where you want to be. The QSR at CSR is delightful- great food, reliable service. CSR is pretty much "central" in WDW. The bus service has always been great to and from the parks.. and I have stayed there twice when the resort was basically full. You get more pool options at CSR vs. the one at WL. If you are visiting during the holidays, I'd stick with WL for the decorations alone. Ultimately, it is your decision :)

CSR is my favorite moderate. It really is a nice resort. The proximity to everything, pool, grounds, rooms, Pepper Market, Panchitos...all awesome. I have no complaints about it at all. With that said, we really want to stay at WL and are hoping to possibly stay there next summer or a surprise Star Wars weekend trip next May (shhh) but I have never stayed there. I have only eaten there so I can only account for being there for a few hours, not an entire day. We did really love it. The grand foyer, attention to detail, shop, grounds, restaurant...all look amazing. I suppose I am not much help.

The only reason my family isn't staying at CSR next time is because we simply want to try a different resort just to see other options. I don't expect it to be terribly better or worse, just different.

I have to chuckle at the "bus stop was far" comment.
#1. There are 5 bus stops on the property and at the most you're looking at a 1000ft. walk to the nearest stop regardless of where your room is. The walk from the MK main gate to Cinderella's Castle is farther than it is from any CSR room to the closest bus stop. Is that "too far" of a walk to watch one of the multiple shows they put on there?
#2. How can anyone complain about a short walk from a room to a bus stop when you're spending a week at DW? The typical family probably walks 60+ miles on a 7 day trip. LOL!
