I am so excited :sohappy: two weeks ago DH and I booked at trip for WL. Seeing how it was a spur of the moment kinda of thing we are only staying 4 nights. We plan on spending more time at the resort than what we normally do. I want to know what every one thinks of the WL I have wanted to stay there since I was a kid (I'm 22). I was reading some reviews on a travel website and they were not so nice.

I'm not sure I would rely on that travel website again that had negative reviews of this hotel!

This is one of my favorite hotels in the U.S. - not just WDW. It is a vacation from your vacation. You could forget you are in central Florida. It it relaxing, beautiful, incredibly themed (right down to the sounds of crickets and frogs at night), the facility is very comfortable, and the service is as good as any of Disney's best.

You will not regret your decision.

Does anyone know if they still have the hidden Mickey's hunt? During my stay years ago, we received a Wilderness Lodge "I found the hidden Mickeys" button for finding at least 18 of them throughout the property. You get a checkoff list and I think we found at least 23 to 25. It was a nice fun thing to do during our down time.

The boat ride is relaxing. It is sometimes not direct as you have to go by Ft. Wilderness first.

Actually, sometime within the past year or so they redid the Bay Lake boat routes. Now there are three routes: One is a dedicated Wildreness Lodge/Magic Kingdom, one is a dedicated Fort Wilderness/Magic Kingdom, and the third is the WL/FW/Contemporary shuttle. So when you're leaving WL, you won't have to go to FW before heading over to the MK.

Also another suggestion for those who will be spending more time at the resort: check out the sitting areas on the two floors above the front entrance. They often go unnoticed, and are a good place to cozy up to a book. There's a fireplace at each of them, and if the fire isn't burning when you arrive, just flick the switch near the floor next to the hearth.

On the lower of the two levels, around the corner from the sitting area, is some desk space to do some work, too. Ideal if you need to type up your trip report on your laptop or write out some postcards.

The WL Villas also have some cozy places to read, too.

I agree with everyone else. WL is an amazing resort and you will not be disappointed. The lobby, the rooms, the pool, the restaurants, and the location are all top notch. It's also very relaxing which is a nice change of pace from the parks.

I pay for the closeness to the Magic Kingdom. Since thats my favorite resort I want to be near it. I would love to stay at the Poly but its a little out of my pricerange.

I just wanted to echo everyone's compliments of WL. We stayed there last year and it was amazing. My girls (ages 2 & 6) loved the pool and my wife and I loved the whole atmosphere! The girls also loved it when they were able to get about a foot away from two rabbits (it made for some great pics). We also enjoyed dinner at Whispering Canyon.

Have a great time!

As my username suggests, I absolutely LOVE this place! And I would have to agree with you - this is such a relaxing place and cozy. If it weren't for taking an additional person down with us, making our party 5 vs. 4, we would be staying there yet again. We are looking forward to a new experience at a different hotel - but I have to say WL called to my entire family.

Enjoy, share pictures!

We loved WL as well. In February we did not have to stop at FW on the boat. We went straight to and from MK and we never seemed to have to wait very long. According to a CM at WL it may be faster to take the bus to MK in the morning because of the crowds heading for the boats. Just a thought. Also they have a fun tour of the lodge around 9:00am. I also found the little out of the way sofas and chairs very comfortable for an early morning coffee get-away. The mere thought of Wilderness Lodge lowers my blood pressure. Enjoy!

I love the WL. We'll be staying there again in Sept.. It's the most relaxing hotel on property. On our last trip we were upgraded to a room right off the lobby, with a direct view of the lake. The view was amazing.

FYI - there are 2 means of transportation between the WL and the MK - boat AND bus - the bus trip is only a 5 minute ride - but I do encourage you to take the boat at least once.
