With the Price Increases and Cuts, Are you Delaying your Visit?

When are you planning on going to WDW next?

  • This Year (2016)

  • Next Year when Avatar opens (2017)

  • 2018

  • 2019

  • Not until Star Wars Land finally opens

  • No Way. I can't afford to go anymore.

I would love to go again this year, but sadly, the ticket prices are not worth what's being offered. I can get great deals on flights and renting DVC, but the cost of the tickets is not a value, even when removing the hopper. If DGF and I were to go this year, there is nothing in AK that we would have interest in (we'd rather go over to the AKL to see the animals), we'd be staying far away from the disaster that is DHS, leaving just Epcot and the MK. Epcot is one of our favorites, mostly for TT, SSE and the pavilions of WS, so we'd be there and then there's the MK, which is losing BTMRR later this year for an extensive refurb. Add in all the cutbacks to entertainment and characters now? I'm sure we'll be going back, but right now, I don't want to pay for basically going to a place that has 4 parks but really, in theory, is operating at about 2.5 out of 4... I want to go to Walt Disney World... not Walt Disney Under Construction World...

We're not delaying this year and have actually booked two trips - August and October. Our August trips have always been our way to end our summer vacation before the madness of the school year begins. My mother requested we join her (with her DVC points) for the October trip since she heard how much fun MNSSHP is. I know she's lonely without my dad and who can say no to a WDW trip?
My husband said we may not go next year. He also said something silly about putting the money into the house. Really. How absurd. I gave in when we skipped a year to do the kitchen. He swore nobody else out there used a brick to keep the fridge door closed.
I'm sure we'll end up going since next year will be our 20th wedding anniversary - that makes a trip mandatory, right? :p

My dad has never been to Florida at all and he's getting up in age with poor health, so we are going this year. We booked it last year, so it's happening. With the price increases and decrease of things to do, I don't plan on returning until they are done with Star Wars land, unfortunately. It's just getting too expensive, especially since I have a daughter who will be an 'adult' in 2 years according to Disney prices. That would be one nice thing to do, if Disney would make an adult ticket kick in when they turn 13 years old rather than 10. Would make trips more affordable for families.

I had been planning a trip for this May (since our last trip in Nov 2014) but we cannot afford to go back because of the depressing Canadian dollar. Rising prices certainly do not help matters . Hoping to be able to go back in 2017 but heard nasty rumors that the Cdn $ may take a couple years to recuperate.

I had booked an April 1-7 trip before the increase, so I'm safe... But I've been debating cancelling it (for several reasons). This might've been the final nail. While it won't affect my bottom line (this time), maybe it'll send a message.

Now WITH the increase... It will be a long, long time before I consider booking again. Maybe after Avatar and maybe even after Toy Story/Star Wars. I'm not paying that much to visit construction sites.

After Star Wars, Toy Story, and Avatar lands are all built I might consider going, but even now I could go to Asia for a similar price as a Disney World Vacation. And by the time all of those land are built (and ticket prices are raised) I could probably spend weeks in Europe for the same price.

I'll be heading to Universal Studios later this year though, seeing as they actually care about providing a product commensurate to their price unlike Disney.

I have a cruise next month with tickets I bought last year, so yes, I'll be going. A better question would be, "if you didn't have trip planned, would you be going this year"?
Ditto!

While I could cancel and bank my points, I do have a week for Christmas's too but I'm also running on APs.

This is pretty much how I feel too. Seems like Universal is constantly upgrading their guest experience while Disney is constantly trying to figure out how to squeeze more dollars out of their blindly loyal guests for what is pretty much the same product.

We stopped doing Orlando after the our last family trip in 2015. The only reason we're going this year, just DW and I, will be to wind down from 2 weeks on the EBPC cruise. Then again, I can also recall discounts from the Magic Kingdom Club and child/junior pricing. So for us, the increase from when we first started going as a family are even greater than average.

But I think this will be the last visit to the World for us unless there are serious changes (food and entertainment offerings). Thinking about it, there are SO MANY OTHER PLACES we can spend our money (Hawaii, cruise around the Horn, etc) we're not at all upset about moving on.

I just got my AP right after the restructuring, next year, I already know I will take some black out dates. This was my first year with it and I really just wanted to be able to go at my whims. But, I already know that my summer is going to be swamped (since I work in Orlando hospitality) and next year I will just take some park down time and probably go with the Gold Pass.

In an unpopular opinion, we still feel that WDW is a great value! Have been going to Disney since my dad took us to California to see "That park Mr. Disney built for families". We have traveled all over the world, and dollar for dollar, there are few vacations that give you the bang for the buck that WDW does. Combine it with the fact that even after 60 years to DL, and 40+ to WDW we still find new experiences every trip; not really finding the "cutbacks" will outweigh all the new things being added.

Considering I never knew how much the prices were and the fact that I always book when the packages for the following year are released, the changes wont affect me much. I'll just expect to pay an additional $300 or so

I've got an AP that will expire this December, so right now I have one last week planned for October for Food & Wine and MNSSHP, as well as a possible long weekend right before the expiration in December. Whether I travel there again after that will be heavily dependent on the renewal rate. I have a lot of family in the Orlando area so that also will be a factor.

The rest of my party for October don't have APs but already snagged their passes through Undercover Tourist after I warned them of the impending price hikes. I know at least half of them will not be returning anytime soon.

The last time I went into a park was 2014. My husband does not care for FP+, so he's not interested in going anymore. We have been on 2 DCL cruises since then and we have enjoyed them immensely.

I was thinking of doing a solo MNSSHP trip in the Fall. I have always wanted to go, so I think I will make it happen.
