With all the recent changes, have they impacted you wanting to go to Disney any time soon?

Forcing guests to engage with their phones constantly rather than experiencing WDW is a crime.
The point once was not just DOING each attraction but also BEING immersed in the stimulating theming as you journeyed thru the parks.

This is a point I forgot to mention.

I don't like checking my phone all of the time, looking for shortest lines, looking for where to go, etc. I also am not a fan of the digital interactive stuff in the queues. I know, then don't do it. The point is, it seems to me to be a cheap way to entertain the guests. Instead of building real life theming and entertainment they concentrate on digital.

Maybe it is because I work in a very digital industry. I spend all day in front of screens, working with other people to design screens to present to customers, to get them to buy more screens. Part of my focus is figuring out how to drive customers to more digital interactions. So maybe it is just part of my personality that I don't want that in my entertainment. I realize that a lot of people love it, but for me it is like being back at work.

All this and more.

I do not want to spend all day at a theme park I'm paying thousands and thousands of dollars and traveling across country to visit...just to have to keep staring at my phone all day.

It's one thing for ordering food, I don't mind that - but everything else? It's borderline ridiculous. But we've become a society who is so attached to our phones and needing to be connected 24/7, that I honestly think most people would be staring down at their phone all day anyway, LOL. So I guess those of us who would rather toss our phones in a backpack and forget about them for most of the day are becoming a rare breed.

My Silver Pass expires on 3/7. I was looking at on-site and off-site reservation options for the first week in March. I have to admit. I found myself not enthusiastic about returning. I was just there for the 50th. It would be same thing, different season. Before I moved back to Florida 20 years ago, I did "normal" vacations to various places around the US. Since then, it's been mostly WDW. Even my parents say it's time for me to return to doing a traditional vacation. It could be as simple as driving the Florida Gulf Coast or going to another city somewhere in the US.

- My May trip was fine all things considered. Hot, kinda busy but fine.
- August into September was incredible. Low lines, cast were on point the whole time, parks were clean.
- December? Toss those two trips into the bin. Holidays always bring crowds (and I've experience Christmas day in the parks a few times) but the trash was worse, transportation was terrible, and the poor cast seemed more stressed then I've ever seen. The 50th? A literal garbage pile. Standout things were the SSE lights and the 50th tag on the Electrical Water Pageant. I have no other good things to talk about from that trip. Covid/pandemic I get but everything felt lacking. A week there was too long.

I expect better for how much I spend down there.

We do have a trip set for Epcots 40th and that's only so I can see some friends. We also have DVC points that need used by August and honestly...I don't really feel like setting foot in there by that point. Maybe they'll be used if a good friend has vacation time and wants to go, then I'll head down.

Back to the 50th. If that's how they handle a "huge" celebration then it's a massive red flag. Some signage and overpriced merch? New shows that mention nothing of the anniversary? Legacy attractions that look like they haven't seen any sort of love in decades? To be honest, I had a miles better time at Cedar Point for their 150th. Lots of new food and merch of course but a fantastic new parade, a new stage show, history was quite literally talked about everywhere in the park, and the park was clean. Heck, dare I say it...I might've had a better night at Kennywood for their Holiday Lights event. A park I have low expectations for blew me away. Everything was decorated and had a holiday overlay. Lights? They took the effort to replace lightbulbs with Christmassy colors. That took serious time but showed how dedicated they were to the event.

I don't plan on visiting until I have someone to take that's never been. We took another couple that had never been this last July and they had a wonderful time. It helped that I was former Cast/WDWMagic poster so I was able to plan it all out pretty efficiently to get us California Grill with Fireworks, Sanaa, San Angel, & Oga's Cantina for food along with a good boarding group for RotR. All of that made for a great time for people who had never been and their enthusiasm was infectious. We have no plans to go back with just ourselves though as nothing new has or is being added that looks all that enjoyable to us and there is too much in the world to explore compared to what WDW is asking us to pay right now.

I walked away from my Kona Cafe breakfast ADR because the hostess insist that I check in on my phone. I did not want to do that because I dont like the GPS turned on on my phone. I am face to face with the dadgum hostess...but no.

So, suggestion? You have ADR numbers. Capture these on your Cell phone, save as a PDF. When challenged? Rattle off the ADR number. We had to do this very thing, around 2015, with regard to a Brown Derby Res.

As we are totally paranoid about "yet another WDW Computer failure"? I actually carry a small printout of all of our ADRs, in my wallet :).

She was having none of it. I screenshot all my ADR's and tried to show it to her. She smugly kept telling me I could only check in on my phone. I had to walk away before my temper got the better of me.

Yes
The only change that has impacted me and my wife from coming is the change of seasons. We don't like the January and February weather, so we'll hold off until April :)

Probably restaurant policy. I doubt the hostess was going out of her way to be smug and annoy you. Sometimes there’s a larger picture. At least you were gracious enough to just walk away. I always seem to be the one in line behind someone trying to make a point.

im a key holder and still go to DL/CA once a month. The refurbishment of ToonTown and addition of MMRR is gonna be an amazing plussing of the entire area
Im excited for GotG and Tron in Florida and will def head back once they are done in a year or two.
Im really excited for Tokyo DisneySea Expansion, ive never been to Tokyo and always wanted to, and this expansion looks so incredible with 3 one off major rides I think I will def make a trip once it is done in the next couple years.
Disney Studios Paris is also getting a lot of much needed love that will take it from terrible park to a decent park but even when its done with the avengers campus, massive pond, frozen land and even star wars land, there isnt much stuff thats unique and would motivate me to go to Paris when Japan is the other option.

Yup. Not going for at least a year to see if anything changes. And that will be a short trip to see if anything is better. If it’s not. We will be selling the DVC back.

You were not there, so you dont know. The way she grinned at me when she gave an empty, "Sorry" was nothing but smug. I wasn't "gracious." Trust me on that, I was p*****. I am also impressed that you know when someone is not being smug and you also know when someone is trying to make a point.

Well you did say that you walked away before your temper got the better of you. I interpreted that as meaning you decided to make your point by leaving without having breakfast instead of showing anger.
