Hmm... Lady and the Tramp dark ride... that's an interesting problem. I saw it a couple years ago for the first time since I was a kid and I was surprised at how
adult the movie was - in more ways than one! How would you make a dark ride out of it, though? Hmm...
I feel like, in general, when making an attraction that's not a simple vehicle-based experience, you have to think about what particular emotional impact you're trying to achieve. Snow White's Adventures was scary, Mr Toad was humorous/crazy, Peter Pan's Flight was beautiful, etc. Lady definitely doesn't lend itself to zany or trippy stuff, but what about scary? I'm not sure that "Chasing a Rat Through the Nursery" would be a great experience, or "Watching Dogs Go Through the Green Door in the Pound"... yikes. No thank you.
So what would I do? Honestly, I think Lady and the Tramp lends itself best to "romantic." I would go for broke on the famous Bella Notte sequence. Everything would be dark and atmospheric, with gas lights and beautiful turn-of-the-century period detail. If I had budget for technology, I would put it all into figuring out how to make a spectacular, convincing starry night sky. Your ride vehicle would then follow Lady and the Tramp on their "date." The music would be subtle but evocative most of the time. We might follow them around their neighborhood, through the town square, watch an animatronic recreation of the famous "spaghetti" scene (because we have to), and then climax on a hill overlooking a gorgeous model city all lit up with sparkling yellow lights and moving carriages and trains. Maybe even make it a boat ride so it moves at a slow pace and becomes a literal "tunnel of love" lol.
The obvious location for me is Main Street behind Tony's Town Square - same time period, already got the restaurant. What do you think?
