"Winter Dreams" - A new World of Color Holiday Show!

I finally caught Winter Dreams this evening and I thought it was very well done. I didn't enjoy it as much as the original WOC, but it was a very cute and heartfelt show that hopefully will be a mainstay at California Adventure for many holiday seasons to come.

The snow effects at the end were an nice touch. The new lighting units on Mickey's Fun Wheel and California Screamin' look fantastic and I look forward to seeing how they're going to be incorporated in the regular show. The sing-along section was my favorite part, followed by the finale and the Toy Story nutcracker sequence. The only part I really wasn't feeling was the song 'Glow' at the beginning. It was okay, but I felt like it got the show off to a slow start. It seemed like they couldn't figure a better way to incorporate the song into the show, so they just stuck it at the beginning.

I watched the video when it was first on-line and it seemed like a good show. After seeing Frozen (embarrassingly enough 2 X so far) I enjoyed it much more. Olaf is really an endearing character in the film and even though he could certainly be scaled back in WD, I must admit it's really nice to have a common thread linking it all together. If I remember correctly, originally they were going to have Squirt (from Nemo) fill that role in WOC, but that it was cut because of running time, effects cuts, and because the Suits didn't like it creatively.

As for the virtual choir, it reminded me of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. I think it works OK, other than it differs completely from the pacing in the rest of the show. I finally get to see this version next week, live, at the DLR.

Close! The character was a little orange fountain named Little Squirt who was to tie the whole show together; executives made the creative team cut the character...however, if you stay til the very very very end of both WOC shows, Little Squirt takes a bow.

Disney was able to accommodate 372 new singers into the Honor Choir, so it will look a bit different starting tonight.
Holy crud! It seemed like it was packed with a lot of people before. I can only imagine how/where they added people unless they sped up the transition of the people??
(BTW, how have you received so much detail about the Honor Choir? Do they send you the info because you're part of the show, or for anyone who auditioned, or??)

They send anyone who auditioned a lot of information. Some parts of the Honor Choir site are only accessible to those who made an account (didn't matter if you submitted a video or not).

The crazy part is they were only going to take 500 and ended up taking 700, so they just keep expanding...

I'm french, my english is not very very good ^^
Hi everyone !
sorry to post un message here, but it's to show my vidéo HD with differents POV.
For me the show of Disneyland Paris is better because he is more dynamic and he has a fireworks. WOC is a long version with fountains passage. After, to said here, it's simple when we don't see the two versions.

Disney Dreams! of christmas Let's Go ! (night time show at 1:25)

for me the problem on the versions (french as USA) it's the passages of Toy Story it's long... too much long !
And see Toy Story everywhere, it's not cool. Ok it's the baby of J. Lasseter, but now that he is the chief of WDI the last rides, shows and parades we can see everywhere.
At the and it's not a surprise. "ooooh... again Toy Story" , at the difference to Banby.

Thank you for sharing that video. Dreams of Christmas looks like a great show, and of course the music is nearly identical to what you hear in Winter Dreams. I have to say I kind of like that World of Color doesn't feature pyro because DL already has two nighttime shows that feature fireworks. WoC is a nice change of pace for those who aren't pyro fanatics :) I also prefer the finale of Winter Dreams, it just seems bigger and brighter with all the new lighting they installed.

Saw it live last night. I liked it on video, but it absolutely blew me away in person. The buzz out here is that it's the "must see" show at the resort. People cheered and sang along. The use of the tech has improved so much over v1. Really outstanding.

Agreed, there is nothing like seeing it in person! There's a lot of neat effects that videos don't capture. For example, the bright spotlights hidden in the viewing area that light up during "I See The Light' , and the new disco balls that make the viewing area sparkle during the finale. It's a beautiful show.

Does anyone know who sings "Believe" in Winter Dreams?
It sounds a lot like Kellie Coffey (from my second favorite Disney nighttime spectacular: Illuminations!)
I would love to know!

One other thing I forgot to mention! The show was updated in the past week and several edits were made to certain scenes. Some of Olaf's transitions between segments were cut out and the Bambi scene was shortened. It seems the show is still being fine-tuned.. I loved the full Bambi segment so I was disappointed to see it was cut down quite a bit.

Heather Headley did the vocals for the show, including Believe, opening/finale, I See The Light. She's a veteran Broadway actress and I have followed her work since she played Nala in the original cast of the Lion King. When I found out it was her it made me love the show even more!

Thanks for the info re: vocals!

I noticed a couple things seemed slightly different but there was only one that I could point out for certain.
To be quite honest, some of the Olaf transitions felt (and still feel) a little awkward and out of place.

I just noticed on the Disneyland Calendar that it looks like WoC will be dark Jan. 7-16.
Must be some technical adjustments before reverting back to the standard show.
